Save the Date!

Today I had my last doctor’s appointment.

(Cue host of angels singing)

At this appointment absolutely nothing had changed.  The Bean still has not turned.  The Bean still is facing the wrong way. The Bean still has not dropped.  The Bean will still have to be evicted from his home.

About the only thing I did learn is that we have an actual date for the c-section.  Monday, June 1.  Mark your calendars!  I’m excited because I always thought June was the perfect month.  Not too hot, not too cold.  And the Bean can have pool parties for his birthday when he’s older.  As a December baby myself, I was always jealous of those kids who could have pool parties.  I’m happy for my Bean.  Pool parties rock.

After I left my doctor’s appointment, I decided it was time to get serious about the arrival of my child.  I mean, this isn’t just a “could happen any day now” situation anymore.  This is happening, people.  And its happening on Monday.  I had things to do.  Stuff to accomplish.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

And I started with my feet.  I got my tootsies a little pedi this afternoon.  It was delightful.  I wonder why I haven’t been getting these all along?  I think they look lovely.  Just ignore that they are a little swollen in this picture.  By now I’ve given up on fighting the swelling.  Its a lost cause.  So, I might as well have pretty swollen feet.

And the best part is that they will only be pretty SWOLLEN feet for the next 4 DAYS!  And then they’ll be pretty MOMMY feet!  So much better.

Let the countdown begin!

The toes look spectacular! Enjoy these last moments and keep on pampering!! Once the Bean comes, you’ll consider daily showers a luxury. It’s amazing how you’ll skip almost anything to catch up on sleep.

Make sure you are super duper clean before you go in to have the little bean. Showering after a c-section is a little tricky ( you will have a pain pump attached to you till you leave the hospital) make sure to pack lots of snacks for the husband too!! Also, don’t feel bad for leaving the little bean in the nursery at night… you need all the sleep you can get, and it won’t be alot. You will have nurses coming in quite a bit to check on you and give you pain killers. I can’t wait to see pictures and read about the birth and all that other wonderful stuff that is about to happen to you. I know i don’t know you or anything, but I know you and Chris will make wonderful parents!! God bless and sleep while you can 🙂

I only just discovered your little site yesterday but I’ve read quite a ways back and I must say I’m quite excited for you and Chris and your little bean! And having been born on June 15th myself, I would have to agree that June is the best month ever. I’m sure you’ll all enjoy the pool party birthdays 🙂

YAY!!! I JUST got my ankles back so don’t be alarmed if they stay huge even after the extrication of “the Bean.” This is great. I’m so very excited for you! 4 days, a count down. Wahoo!

Oh wow! i have been following your site for quite a while now. you guys remind me quite a bit of my and my boyfriend sometimes- i can completely imagine the playstation/contractions scenario in our house 🙂 it’s kind of nice to read abotu you gusy and imagine where we could be in a few years.
but i’m amazed at how excited i am for the bean to be born! and reading the other comments, and knowing how much i’ve enjoyed your updates, it’s so obvious you have such a gift for weaving tales and touching people – as well as giving a lot of laughs 😀
so enjoy the last few days, and can’t wait to hear all about how you go!
PS: Down here in Australia, you would have a nice hot summer birthday!

Aww… having the Bean on my birthday! 🙂 I never had pool parties (didn’t have a pool), but we had plenty of cook-outs. It is nice to have your birthday when you can celebrate it outdoors. Hope it all goes well!

Glad to hear you finally have a date! Now, he’ll do what my oldest did- we were a week overdue (!! I know!!) and the doc had a date set for inducement. 2 days before, at 3 a.m., she decided to finally make an appearance. And, don’t feel bad about your b-day, all of ours are in winter months too.

Your pedi is beautiful…you earned it! I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I’ll be keeping you in my prayers! 🙂

Hey! I got a pedicure on Tuesday! Aren’t they AMAZING? The lady rubbed my feet like nobody’s business to try to bring on some contractions, but to no avail.

    You’ll do great on Monday!

Four days!? My gracious, that is crazy to comprehend. It’s so weird to have an actual DATE and knowing that that will indeed be the day. Be sure and let me know how everything goes with the C-sec as I may be having one myself! 🙂

What a beautiful pedicure! I painted mine a couple days before we had the baby and let me tell you, that was neither a fun nor a pretty experience. A 9-months-pregnant woman contorting herself to reach her cankles and swollen toes is not a happy sight. Unfortunately the swollen feet do not go away right away, mine have taken about 2+ weeks.

Our kiddo was emergency C and I second everyone who says to REST when you get the chance. Seriously. Try not to do so much and take the pain meds without guilt. I’m one of those people who can’t sit still so this recovery has been hard for me, but I’m learning to take things a little more slowly. 🙂 Good luck! Meeting and holding your baby for the first time is the absolute best thing in the world. Can’t wait to see pictures!
