A New Discovery

“Hey, Mom,” said Beanie.   “I think these things are attached to me.”

“They are Beanie,” I said.   “Those are your hands.”

“Hmmm,” said Beanie.   “They do kind of smell like me.”

“And they taste pretty good,” he said.

“You know,” said Beanie.   “I think if I…just…think real hard…I can…move them…”

“Whoa!   Too close!   Too close!”

“But I think…if I can just…move it…back…a little bit….There!   That’s better!”

“Whoa!   Mom!   Mom!   Help!” yelled Beanie.   “The hand is moving all on its own!   Help!   Mom!”

“I don’t like it, Mom,” said Beanie.   “I don’t like the hand.”

“Oh, wait a second,” said Beanie.   “Wait just a minute here.   There’s another one!”

“Oh my gosh!” yelled Beanie.   “Mom!   Are you watching?   These hands are gonna fight!   Mom!   Are you looking?”

“Oh, wait,” said Beanie.   “I don’t think they’re gonna fight. It kind of looks like they’re…friends or something.”

“They are!” yelled Beanie.   “Mom!   Look at this!   The hands are friendly!   They’re nice hands!”

“Now if I could just get them to go where I want them to go, it’d be perfect,” said Beanie.   “Think of it, Mom!   I could just…like…pick up my own binky!”

“I know,” I said.   “Or you could even feed yourself a bottle.”

“FEED MYSELF A BOTTLE?!?!?” yelled Beanie.   “Like anytime I wanted to?!?!?!?”

“I gotta go, Mom,” said Beanie.   “I’ve gotta talk to my hands about something…”
