A Serious Case of the Waddles

A Serious Case of the Waddles

This week I am 22 weeks pregnant.  And, man, do I feel it!  I’m getting used to my belly and I’m loving all the moving that the Bean is doing (although if he spends one more night kicking me in the ribs, we’re gonna have some serious problems).  But I’m starting to notice that things that at one time were so easy for me now take a lot of pre-planning and manuevering. Take standing up, for instance.  I love me some cushy furniture.  You can’t overstuff something enough for me….

Tightening the Purse Strings

Tightening the Purse Strings

I was going to blog this morning about the pitiful State of My Union, financially speaking, but then I got word from a good friend that she is on uncertain terms with her job and her husband recently lost his.  Suddenly, my financial woes seem insignificant and petty.  But I guess in these times, you could play the “Whose Got It Worse” game with just about anyone and you’d always find someone who is worse off and someone who is better off than you.  If anything at all is certain…

Taxi-Cab Confessions

Taxi-Cab Confessions

Yesterday after work, I caught the train down to New York to meet Chris at a New York Rangers hockey game.   This is all part of our Operation De-Rut Program.   When I got to Grand Central, I hailed a cab and told the driver to take me to Madison Square Gardens.   I felt very New York. On the way to The Garden, the cab driver asked me what I had tickets to see.   I told him a Rangers game and he kind of chuckled.   Keep…

Holy Responsibility, Batman!

Holy Responsibility, Batman!

So, what’d you do this weekend?  Mow the lawn?  Maybe read a good book?  See a good movie?  That sounds like fun.  Know what I did?  PICKED A CHILDCARE PROVIDER FOR MY UNBORN CHILD!  You know, cause I’m, like, gonna have a child.  Who needs care.  From a provider. Holy.  Responsibility. We have been thinking about childcare pretty much since the day we found out we were pregnant.  As much as I would like to think I could, I would never be able to be a stay at home mom….

A Kick in the Ruts

A Kick in the Ruts

Chris and I are in a rut.   You know the kind.   Where your life consists of getting up, packing your lunch, going to work, coming home, cooking dinner, watching Jeopardy, going to bed.   Getting up, packing your lunch, going to work…   You get the idea.   Yep, we’re in a rut and we’ve been here since probably Christmas. At first I thought it was the pregnancy, but that’s not it because the most excited we both get is when we talk about the beanie weenie.  …

Busted by the Belly

Busted by the Belly

Normally, I try to vary my blog topics every day so that you don’t have to read about the same thing over and over again.  But my belly is the only thing on my mind lately.  It is growing exponentially and I am completely fascinated by it.  Sure, the little guy growing in there is pretty cool, too, but the sheer size of my belly these days is spectacular on its own.  Let me see if I can explain the size of it… I had this past Monday off of…

Pillow Talk

Pillow Talk

My baby bump is getting bigger by the day and its making it a little harder to do simple things like get out of the bed or tie my shoes.  But the biggest problem I’m having is sleeping at night.  You are supposed to sleep on your side because…well, I don’t really know why.  I mean, its obvious why I can’t sleep on my stomach since I’m pretty sure that would anger my tenant.  But I’m not sure why I can’t sleep on my back – something about blood flow…

Obama’d

Obama’d

There are events in life that we will always remember.   I remember watching the news in the kitchen with my mom and grandmother when Princess Diana was killed.   I remember Chris calling me during my political science class my freshman year of college when the plane crashed into the first tower on 9/11.   Sadly, it is usually these disturbing and horrific events that stay with us over time.   Seldom is an event life-changing enough in a positive way to make an life long impression on us….

Ultracool Ultrasound

Ultracool Ultrasound

This week I had my 20 week ultrasound.   It was awesome.   During this exam, they actually had a purpose other than to amuse me.   They zoomed in really, really closely on my little Beanie Weenie and they examined every one of his organs and the blood flow going to and from each one to make sure that he was developing correctly. Good news – He was! Here is his profile picture.   That dark spot in the middle his is brain.   I don’t know about you,…
