Little Elf

“Here Bean,” said Chris.   “You hold this for just a minute.”

“Whoa!” said Beanie.   “What are these things?”

“These are Christmas lights.   We’re going to put them on the bushes in the front yard.”

“How come, Dad?” asked Beanie.

“Cause your Mom is making us.”

“Oh,” said Beanie.   “We better do it then.”

“Yeah,” said Chris.   “Okay, Bean.   Are you ready?”

“Ready for what?”

“Uh, Dad?”

“Yes, Bean?”

“I’m glowing, Dad.”

“Yeah!” exclaimed Chris.   “Isn’t it cool?”

“Actually, Dad, its kind of hot…”

“Oh,” said Chris.   “Here, lets get them off you a little bit.”

“That’s better,” said Bean.

“Great!” said Chris.   “Now, let’s head outside and start putting them on the bushes.”

“Uh, Dad?” said Bean.

“Yes, Bean?”

“I can’t walk yet.”

“Alright,” said Chris.   “Well, you can be the guy inside who tells me where the holes are when I put the lights up.”

“Okay,” said Bean.   “That’s a good idea.”

Fatherhood.   Its all about teamwork.

Chris does always have the best facial expressions in pictures. Kind of says “are you kidding me?” or “ok, go ahead and take this picture for your blog”

It’s four in the morning and I just scared the dog by laughing literally out loud at the Bean’s expression after he told Chris he couldn’t walk. Priceless!

Are those lead free Christmas lights? I am cringing as I ask because I don’t want you to think I’m nuts. But, and you can google this: For safety reasons, the wiring contains lead and often, high amounts of lead. So I stopped letting my kids help me with Christmas lights and wash my hands thoroughly after decorating with them. Of course, you may have bought the lead-free Christmas lights. In which case, ignore me. And on that note…I love your blog? NO, really. I do. 🙂
