Conversations with Bean and Gracie,  Parenting

And So It Begins€¦

“Whoa, Mom,” said Beanie.  “What is that thing?”

“Its a remote control, Bean Man.  It changes the channels on the television.”

“Those lights are pretty,” said Beanie. “Here, let me try that…”

“Alright,” I said.  “But be careful.”

Nom nom nom,” snorted Bean.

“Oh, Bean!  Stop!” I shouted.

“What?”

“You change the channel every time you chew,” I said.  “Here, let me take the batteries out and then you can have the remote back.”

“Oh, man, Mom!” pouted Beanie.  “You’re such a party pooper!  Now the lights aren’t going to light up!”

“Oh, Bean.  Don’t be so dramatic.”

“Well, now what am I supposed to do with this?”

“Well, you can chew on it now.  You don’t have to worry about changing the channels or anything,” I said.

“Yeah, but there aren’t any lights, Mom,” said Beanie.  “How am I supposed to have a disco in my mouth if there are no lights?”

“Just try it, Bean.”

“UGH!  FINE!  Let me have it.”

Nom, nom, nom…”

(silence)

Nom, nom, nom…”

(silence)

“Well?” I said.

“I would like to now play with this ball instead.”

“Oh, geez, Bean.”

  • Beanie's Nana

I always chuckle when I see pictures like this of Beanie. His socks are half off and I can tell he’s been pulling on them. If you and Chris need a break, just put my little fellow out on the back stoop and I’ll come by and get him.

    Love Nana

  • Nate's Mom

Nate became obsessed with remote controls a few weeks ago. We got him one from Fisher Price (I think). It lights up just like the one that controls the teevee, and yammers at him in English, French, and Spanish when he pushes the buttons. Just like Beanie, his favorite thing is to eat the remote. Nom nom nom. It’s tastier than a Cheerio! 🙂

My daughter Amelia loves remotes so much that we gave her one of her very own – an old XBOX remote. SO! FUN!

    The only problem?

She tosses it aside the minute she sees the remote for our DVD player, which coincidentally doesn’t work any longer. I wonder why?!?

Very cute, I love the photos 🙂 But as I do not have children myself is it sad that my first observation was “Oh they have the same TV system we do!”
