Happiness is 80 Degrees in April

So, apparently, Florida has its perks.  And so does unemployment.  Which is why at 11:00 on a Friday morning, I was able to take Bean over to my friend Sarah’s house for lunch and swimming in her pool.

Bean was a big fan of the water.  It was pretty cold, so we eased into it.  But once he was in there he seemed to really like it.  I bought him a blow up boat so that he could sit in the water and I wouldn’t have to hold him the whole time.  It also had a canopy that kept him out of the direct sun so he wouldn’t burn.

Bean has a little car at our house and whenever Chris pushes him around on it, he makes an engine sound, “Grrrrrr…..”  So, I guess Bean Man thought that his boat worked off the same engine because the entire time I pushed him around the pool, he made that engine noise.

But his favorite thing was when I would run his boat into the walls of the pool.  He loved bouncing off the walls.

After pool time, we took a little time out to play on the patio.  Sarah has a dog named Nala who was so sweet and gentle with Bean.

I could almost hear Bean thinking, “Molly!  You’re white!”

After romping with Nala, Bean decided to get his groove on with Sarah.  He never can pass up a chance to dance with a pretty girl.

I wish you could hear what was happening during these pictures.  Sarah had music playing out on her patio and I promise you that every time a Fergie or Black Eyed Peas song came on, Bean would start dancing.  When that song would end and another singer would come on, Bean would stop dancing.  But the next time a Fergie song came on, he’d start again.  It was so funny!  He has very particular taste in music, I guess.

Fergie on…

Fergie off.

You know, I have highs and lows since we’ve moved.  My lows are pretty darn low.  I miss my routine and my house and my friends in Connecticut.  I miss working and I definitely miss having two paychecks.  But, looking in the rear view mirror makes it hard to keep your eyes on the road in front of you.  And I’m learning that adjusting to change means finding the happiness where you are today .  And today was pretty fantastic.

You look great, Katie! Don’t know why you were even concerned about bathing suit season. And that little man of yours—quite a dancer!

Bean is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I check your blog out every day hoping for new pictures of him. I feel like I know you guys just from the pictures. 🙂 he’s a sweetie! Enjoy this time you are home (though it’s tough) beccause it’s gonna go by so fast and you’ll wish you had it back. Hang in there girl. 🙂

So glad you had a good day! When those come it feels like you can conquer the world. When you are low you wonder how you ever thought you could. One day I know I will look back on this time and wonder what the hell was wrong with me. I know I will make it through it and I know you will too! If not for ourselves we will for our Q-Tip and Beannie! 🙂

One more thing…I don’t know what the heck you are thinking worrying over wearing a swimsuit! You are CRAZY! You look great!

You look phenomenal in that suit (and always)! Don’t ever worry about bathing suit season again!

And yes, once you move, it’s all about being happy TODAY. I had serious issues when we first moved to Orlando, but Rob and I got through it together. It was the best thing for us as a couple and for our families. We found the good in our situation and now we’re happy. I hope you all find happiness here too. Just give it time!

I’m gonna chime in and agree with everyone else – you look fantastic, and it looks like you all had a great time.
Things will get better, and in the meantime, it’s good to give yourself a break with days like these. As long as you can appreciate these happy moments, the not so good times will hopefully be easier to handle. 🙂

So I do not know what you were so worried about, because you look fantastic! Your suit is so cute 🙂 And Bean is so adorable in that little boat haha, I can just picture him making the noises!

The “Fergie on”, “Fergie off” pictures had me rolling! PS That bathing suit looks great 🙂 and I swear I am not just saying that!

  • Debbie

You look fabulous and I am glad that you had a well deserved fabulous day! You are correct, obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal.
Hang in there moving never is as much fun as it sounds, but your new place will be home soon enough!

  • Megan

The suit looks amazing – you had nothing to be worried about!

p.s.~ Even when leaving comments, I feel horrible when I end a sentence in a preposition. Sadly, I’m too bad a writer to correct it.

He’s got good taste in music! My older two kids didn’t like those floating things, I’m hoping Little Man likes his that he got for his first birthday. Oh and the 80 degrees in April thing? Can you believe it was over 80 degrees yesterday in MINNESOTA!? Usually there’s snow on the ground!

Such a sweet post…the suit looks really good!
    Bean and the engine noise-precious!
You better watch it with the bouncing off the walls…you’re going to set yourself up for some crazy times. 🙂
    “Molly! You’re white!”-awesome.
The rear view mirror quote is very good…I’m so glad you had a good day.

I LOVE that bathing suit and you look great – quit beating yourself up! I wish you could’ve had dancing Bean on video, too funny. Glad you enjoyed your day. I spent the day soaking up the sun too but unlike you I now look like a lobster. Sunscreen – what a great invention – too bad I forgot mine! 🙂

I’ve been reading your blog for a couple months but have never commented (bad reader me!)…but what I wanted to say is that you looked great in your suit and Bean is so freakin’ adorable, and I love your honesty in your posts, and all that good stuff!

  • Callie

Um, you look great in that bathing suit! Pretty sure that ruffle is more flattering than you let on in your other post 🙂

And how cute is Bean with his car noises and dancing?!

  • Amy

The weather has been awesome up here in Tennessee too–it was 85 yesterday! In April! My soul feels alive again!

And seriously, you look awesome in that swimsuit 😉

  • Beanie's Nana

You and Sarah haven’t changed since 7th grade! Look just the same. I’m sorry moving has been such an emotional roller coaster. So wish I could help make it easier. But its takes time to adjust. New jobs, new routines and it will soon feel like home. On the flip side, I wake up every morning and can’t believe you, Chris and Beanie are only an hour away. My heart skips a beat everytime.

  • Katie

I can’t help but get up and move when the Black Eyed Peas or Fergie come on either. And props for showing pictures of you in a bathing suit on your blog, I could never do that. But you look great!… so that helps. ; )

Katie, I love your blog. Seeing you in love with that little boy brings back so many memories of me as a young mother, but I had so much fun being a mother that we had five children in 8 years. My own little kindergarten class!! That is the reason I chose to teach high school kids. Love your blog.

I’m pretty sure that Bean’s boat is a car. Or a carboat or a boatcar. He must have noticed the wheels and headlights and racing numbers and decided it was car.
