Free At Last! Free At Last!

Tonight, Chris and I dropped Bean Man off at my parent’s house where he’ll be hanging out for the next two days.  We’ll pick him up again on Saturday.

Did you hear that?  Should I say it again just to make sure you got it?

WE’LL PICK HIM UP AGAIN ON SATURDAY.  As in, two days from now.  As in, I get to sleep in two days in a row!!!!!!

And all God’s people said, “AMEN!”

Seriously.  I can’t tell you how excited I am about this.  I know a lot of parents get really nervous and sad when they leave their baby for the first time.  But I’m not really one of those people.  I’ve left Bean before when I went to New York for the weekend for my sister’s bachelorette shower, but Bean was with Chris and so I didn’t really consider that to be leaving him.  This is the first time we’ve left him without one of the two of us.  And yet, I’m still oddly okay with this.  Not just okay, really.  EXCITED!

Chris and I have a whole list of things we both want to do while we have this Bean Free Time:

1.  Go to Barnes and Noble and lay around reading books and drinking expensive cafe drinks.  (Me)

2.  Get naked.  (Chris)

3.  Take a nap or two whenever we want.  (Me)

4.  Get naked.  (Chris)

5.  Go out to dinner to a really nice restaurant.  Maybe one that requires reservations and a tie.  (Me)

6.  Get naked and play video games.  (Chris)

7.  Take another nap.  (Me)

8.  Take another nap.  Naked.  (Chris)

But before we do any of those things, we are heading out tomorrow morning to the Kennedy Space Center for what could be the most amazing day of little Christopher’s life.  Let me just tell you the coolest story…

The other day after I blogged about our trip to see the Discovery shuttle launch, I was contacted by a lovely lady in the PR office at the Kennedy Space Center.  She invited Chris and I out to the Space Center to be her guest for the day.  We’re getting a fun, private tour of the center, we get to go over to the launch pad, and WE GET TO HAVE LUNCH WITH AN ASTRONAUT!  Isn’t that awesome?!?!  I know how excited I am about this whole fun day, but you should hear Chris.  He can’t even speak in complete sentences about it.  He gets all squeally and shrieky and he starts jumping and buying everyone rounds of drinks…

Its pretty embarrassing, really.

So, be sure to check back on Monday when I post all about our big Space Adventure.  I’ll have tons of pictures and maybe even a video or two.

And don’t worry.  Chris will have his clothes on.
