Blogging,  Marriage Confessions

DON’T. PANIC. EVERYTHING IS OKAY.

Nobody panic!

Don’t freak out!

It’s just the brand spankin’ new home of Marriage Confessions – same blog, same ramblings, same odd stories that make you feel better about your own life.  Just a pretty new little website format, thanks to the kind folks at Flosites.

And I know what you’re thinking.  “Now I have to get used to a whole new website?!?!”

BUT WAIT!  This one is way more fun!  Here, let me show you some of the new features that you’re really going to love…

THE BLOG CAROUSEL

See that little box thingy right above this blog post?  That’s a fancy-pantsy little thing I like to call a Blog Carousel.  I’m sure it has a technial, bloggy name but I like carousels.  That little box is really for newbies to the site.  You veterans probably won’t need to click around up there too often.  It just alerts new visitors to the fact that there are multiple blogs on this site and then it gives a little introduction to each blog.  If this website were a theme park, that would be the YOU ARE HERE sign.

CATEGORIES

I am forever getting emails asking me about where something that I’ve blogged about before can be found.  Hopefully, this category sorter will help with those requests, since I’m usually not able to respond to all of them.  Just scroll through the category bar and find the category that you’re looking for, then click on the picture.  All the posts in that category should come up and you can peruse through until you find what you’re looking for.  But what happens if you still can’t find what you need?  Then you should head over to…

THE Q&A PAGE

Marriage Confessions has a brand new blog!  Check out the Q&A page and see what you think.  I get emails all the time asking quick little questions, either asking further information about something I’ve already blogged about or maybe asking my opinion about something.  Lots of little questions and, to be honest with you, I just don’t have time to respond to all those emails – though I read every one of them!  This new blog is the place to ask those questions.  You leave a question and I’ll check in most days and answer as many as I can.  Then, if your question requires a longer answer than just the short one I leave in the response, I can actually post full-length blog posts to this blog, too.  The idea of this new blog is that you get to know what YOU want to know.  It’s a place where readers have a say about the content.  Cause you don’t need a chic new website to know that I’ve got some of the best readers around.

ARCHIVES

Finally, Marriage Confessions has archives!  Check those out if you have some extra time or if you’re hunting a specific post from a specific point in time.  Archives appeal to my Type A personality.  I’m probably more excited about this than I should be.

TOP POSTS

The Top Posts sections are on all the main blogs (MC, Bean, and the Man Cave).  These posts are automatically generated by the number of comments received on each post.  So, the more comments a post gets, the more popular it is ranked in the Top Posts.

THE REVIEWS PAGE

I’ve had a review page for a while, but before it was just used for reviews of products I was being paid to promote.  Now, this review page will become more apart of my website.  Any product review I do – whether it is compensated or just a product I’ve found on my latest visit to Target – will be put on this page.  That way, it should make it easier to find things that I’ve mentioned before.  I’ll also be doing my baby registry review posts in there, too, which have been really popular with the mommy’s-to-be out there.

OLDIES BUT GOODIES

Marriage Confessions, the Growing Bean, and the Man Cave are just as they always have been.  You can still find them by clicking through the bar at the top of the website.  We also still have an About page and a Contact page, though both of those have changed in content and format.  So, even though it all looks different, your favorite stuff is still there – front and center, like it should be.

So, that’s it really.  I hope you guys like the new site as much as Chris and I do.  We’ve been working with Flosites on this for about a year and a half and I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally be able to share it with you.  A huge, cyber hug and thank you goes out to Ross, Jenny, Alina and the entire Flosites team.  You all have made a tedious process exciting and interesting and you never rolled your eyes at my lack of technical knowledge…  at least, you never rolled them in front of me.  If I were a website, I’d be this website and I can’t thank you enough for capturing that.

I also have to thank my handsome partner-in-crime, my husband, Chris.  This website redesign is really his accomplishment.  He’s the one who sat on the conference calls with the designers and he’s the one who stayed up late every night for months working on the new site.  And more importantly, he’s the one who picked me up by my bootstraps over the past few months when I really wanted to just quit writing anything.  He’s the one who told me to suck it up and put my heart back into it.  You know, Chris’ professional job is taking whimsical drawings of theater sets and turning them into bottom line, budgeted, profit-making scenery and shows.  He actually spends his days turning fantasy into real life.  So, it shouldn’t surprise me that he has, once again, managed to take some pie-in-the-sky idea I’ve had and turn it into an actual, obtainable, tangible something.  So, thanks, Chris, for giving me a good kick in the rear and for picking up the reins when I was too tired to do it.  You’re a good husband and an even better person.  And you’re cute.  And you smell good.

Lastly, I have to thank YOU GUYS – my awesome readers – for sticking around over the past three years as Marriage Confessions has grown and found it’s place in Cyber Land.  Without your interest and continued support, there’d be no one to build a website for – so thank you.  A million bajillion thank yous.

Now, go enjoy the new digs!  Kick off your shoes, curl up in a nook somewhere, and make this place your home!
