Fun Friday Finds

I am a loyal consumer. Once I find something I like, I rarely stray from it and I sing it’s praises to anyone who will listen. Which is what I’m doing today.  Because it’s Friday.  And because I’m out of blog fodder for the week.

FUN FRIDAY FINDS THAT I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT:

My favorite black cardigan from Target – I love this cardigan. The fabric is actually paper thin, which is nice for me because I’m usually burning up every minute of every day. But with my lovely, round pregnant body, I find I’m more comfortable when I’ve got on an extra layer of clothing to cover my tush, my arms, my hips…and the list goes on. So this cardigan is perfect. Covers and is comfy without being hot and heavy.

Steven Tyler on American Idol – This one is strange because I’ve never been a big American Idol fan. But my undiscovered love of Steven Tyler has been awakened this season and I tune in every week just to stare at him. I love his speaking voice. I love his singing voice. I love his hair. I love his lips. I love his glasses. And I love what a nice person he seems to be. I officially have a crush.

Mary Kay Time Wise Moisturizer – I tried this over Christmas when my sister did a Mary Kay party. Then I bought some. Now I’m getting ready to buy some more. I love this stuff. It goes on light, but it it keeps my face smooth and creamy all day. I don’t know about you, but when I’m pregnant my skin gets really dry. Don’t know why. With this moisturizer, I haven’t had that at all. It’s awesome and I love it. The End.

Diet Caffeine Free Pepsi – I know, I know. I’m not supposed to have diet drinks while I’m pregnant, but I limit it to one a day. I can’t help it. I can’t live without it. So if I’m going to cheat, at least I go with the caffeine free, right? Right? RIGHT?!?! These are the things that I convince myself throughout the day.

Go, Baby Yoga Pants by Motherhood – I’ve had these since my pregnancy with Bean. I have worn holes in them. They are stretched way too far out – even for maternity pants. They are the most comfortable pants in the entire world. My favorite weekend outfit is these pants, my old white t-shirt, and my black Target cardigan. Plop me on the couch and I’m a happy girl!

Twilight Woods Body Butter from Bath and Body Works – Chris’s sister gave this to me for Christmas and I love it! I can’t stand the smell of stretch mark cream, so I’ve been using this instead. I use it twice a day and so far I haven’t gotten any new stretch marks this pregnancy. And did I mention it smells good? Like, really good?

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins – The Hunger Games series is actually a young adult series, so I was skeptical about reading it. But so many of my students were reading it and then a ton of the other teachers had read it, so I decided that maybe I should try at least the first one to see what all the fuss was about. Then two days after I decided to read it, a lovely, sweet blog reader surprised me and sent me my very own copy! I read The Hunger Games and was instantly addicted. I read it in two days. Immediately, I went to the media center at my school and started harassing the librarian until she agreed to give me the 2nd book, Catching Fire, as soon as someone returned it to the library. I got it yesterday and I’m almost done with it. They are so good. Easy to read, perfect mixture of romance and action, great plot – everything you need for a great book series!

Tagalong Girl Scout Cookies – It’s officially my favorite time of the year. GIRL SCOUT COOKIE SEASON!!! I ordered six boxes from three different Girl Scouts. (What??? I like to support charity. Sue me!) I got my first order in two days ago. And the cookies are already gone. 2 boxes of Tagalongs. Done. BRING ON ORDER #2, BABY!!

Hooray for the HUNGER GAMES series–I liked Catching Fire best, but I wonder what you’ll think of Mockingjay. Lucky you, reading them when the trilogy is complete, and you don’t have to anxiously anticipate another book (and then put it on hold from the library and wonder if you’re stealing a good reading opportunity from a kid somewhere in NYC). Also, please tell me you ordered Thin Mints, too. I mean, it’s the greatest cookie of all time, right? My husband emailed me last week to say a co-worker’s daughter was selling them, and I did a happy dance. Then I did another when he told me he bought an extra box. Eee–I can’t wait for the sweet, sweet day he brings them home. Happy Friday, indeed!

That cardigan looks really comfy and nice. I too am surprised at how much I like Steven Tyler, though not quite to your extent… I’m more into J-lo. Bring on the diet dr pepper or diet coke for me!. If I were pregnant I’d go buy those pants right now, but I’m not, so I wont. I’ve never quite understood what body butter is for. Now I kind of want to read that book series. And I ALWAYS want cookies!

  • Bridget

I LOVE The Hunger Games series. My roommate and I are obsessed with young adult fiction, and The Hunger Games packs so much in while still being easy to read. (We say we read so much YA to support our students, but really we just love it.)

  • Alli

I LOVED The Hunger Games books…until the last 3 paragraphs of Mockingjay. I can’t decide if I was pissed at the way it was wrapped up, the fact that it was rushed, or just the fact that it was over lol.

  • rebecca

I’ve heard so many people say that Steven Tyler is amazing on American Idol. I might actually have to start watching it! And you’re right…Tagalongs are THE BEST!

  • Kate

Oh, I’m so glad you posted about “The Hunger Games” series. I’ve been on the lookout for something new to read. I may just head to the library today and see if they have the first book in.
Oh, and I if you hadn’t posted the picture, I would have had no idea what a Tagalong was. Apparently, over here in the southwest, we get boring names for our cookies. Tagalongs here (of which I have a box waiting in my pantry)are simply called Peanut Butter Patties. Boring right? Oh, and what you guys call Samoas are Caramel deLites here. Thank goodness Thin Mints are the same. 🙂

  • Becky

I love the Mary Kay Time Wise too. Anything else makes my face feel greasy and I break out. And Tagalongs, and Thin Mints and Samoas are the fave Girl Scout cookie in our house too. I am now officially on the lookout for the girls to be selling them on the weekends at Kroger!

  • Donna

I love the MK lotion and caffine free diet pepsi too! While you are pregnant you must keep some indulgences!
And girl scout cookies, I was so happy when I had a little girl bc I plan on her being a girl scout just bc I need a supplier…

  • Nate's Mom @ nateisgreat

At my baby shower for Nate, a relative brought homemade Tagalongs. Take two ritz crackers, make them into a sandwich with a giant slather of peanut butter, and enrobe the whole thing in melted chocolate. Put on parchment paper and let it set up in the fridge. Devour. So. So. So. GOOD!

  • Michelle @ Mambo Gook

When I lived in the north, I was all about some Pepsi products, but now that I’m a southern girl, it’s Diet Coke all the way!! I actually posted how my fridge is full of diet coke and boxed wine right now, haha! But my parents are addicted to diet caffeine free pepsi.

  • Becca

Fun stuff! Just don’t get your hopes up too high for the last book of the Hunger Games trilogy. I LOVED the first two, but the last one just didn’t measure up, in my opinion…

  • Christy

I love cardigans like that from Old Navy too. Super comfortable and thin fabric is a must for me.
Thin Mints and Tagalongs are my favorite Girl Scout cookies. I don’t buy them though because every year they go up in price. Those capitalistic, cute little girls! How much are they this year? Maybe I’ll splurge on one box or two.
Horse lips scares me but I like his music…

  • Jessica

I stopped watching American Idol after the first season… mostly because I went off to college and didn’t have cable… and now I just can’t get back into it.

But I’m SO SO SO SO happy that you are continuing with the rest of the series! I wasn’t 100% sure about sending it. I told my husband I was sending it to a friend… rather than a blogger. Haha. But you feel like a friend, so I don’t feel like I was lying… Please share what you think after reading Mockingjay!

I love Tagalongs! My little sister is selling them right now!

  • Niki

I just bought Hunger Games a couple weeks ago and got Catching Fire as a birthday gift on Monday. I’m going to start reading them after I’m done with the book I’m reading now.

  • Michaela

Oh, Steven Tyler! Now my partner and I live in Australia, and have watched almost no American Idol. And yet, I’m glued to this season, partially to see what craziness comes from Steven Tyler every episode. He is great. And man those cookies look good.

  • Maggie

Every girl needs a good pair of yoga pants to veg in! I’m on the hunt for a perfect pair, but goodness knows I may need that maternity pair after I get my order of girl scout cookies. I had to order from 2 students – I’m slightly afraid for my bottom’s future.

  • Amy

I love the Hunger game books!! I read the first one in a day and a half. I just finished Mocking Jay and I’m real sad there isn’t another book.

  • Megan @ Red Dirt and Crazy

That makes the third time I’ve heard someone talk about Hunger Games. I’m definitely going to have to check them out now. I’ve been trying to slowly savor P-Dub’s new one because I don’t want to run out of good stuff to read.

    Thanks for sharing!

    🙂

  • The Crazy One

Thanks to you I started reading The Hunger Games on my Kindle last night before going to bed. I’ve now spent almost all day consumed with reading that story. It’s excellent! I must go finish before I can sleep again. Thanks!!
