Hokey, Hokey, Hokey

When we’re driving in the car, Bean and I listen to the local Christian music station on the radio. It’s good for both of us. Normally, Bean doesn’t sing along. Because it’s a radio station, I think he has a hard time learning the songs. He loves to sing along with his CDs when we listen to those, but he hasn’t really sung along with the radio yet.

Until this weekend.

We were driving down the road and one of my favorite hymns came on.  Over and over again the lyrics say, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord.”

From the backseat came this angelic, high pitched little voice.

“Hokey, hokey, hokey…”

I almost wrecked my car because I was laughing so hard. It was the sweetest, most sincere little voice ever.

“Hokey, hokey, hokey…”

When the song ended, I was still giggling at sweet Beanie. And so I asked him, “Bean, can you say Holy Ghost?”

“Hokey Ghost,” he said, so proudly. So clearly.

When we pulled into the parking lot of where we were going, I jumped out of the drivers seat and threw open the back door. I grabbed Bean out of his seat and squeezed him for about 2 minutes right there in the parking lot. My sweet, sweet, sweet Beanie.

I can’t wait to see how the Hokey Ghost works in his little life.
