Dwinguler Eco-Friendly Playmat

This past weekend, my mother-in-law, Jackie, came to town for my baby shower and she brought with her the coolest gift.  She always gives really great presents, but this one might have been the best so far.  It is a Dwinguler Eco-Friendly playmat.

I know from the picture it sort of looks like any other playmat, but it’s the texture of this one that sets it apart from any others I’ve seen.  It’s not made out of that thin foam that lots of playmats are made of.  This one is more like memory foam from a really nice mattress.  When you step on it, you sort of sink down into it a bit.  Oh, it’s heavenly.

One of Jackie’s friends had one for her little girl and they said it was perfect for all that pacing you do in the middle of the night as you soothe a little one.  It is good for your feet and your back if you’re walking a lot.  And for the little ones, it is just so soft to crawl around on.

My favorite part though is that dog hair doesn’t stick to it!  If you have dogs, you know what a big deal this is.  With two mangy mutts roaming our house, keeping dog hair off the wee ones is a battle that I have hopelessly given up.  But this mat doesn’t allow the dog hair to stick.  Both Lucy and Molly have rolled on it, walked on it, slept on it, played on it and generally made it their own, but not one hair has stuck.  Which is so nice and different than any other playmat or activity mat that we have which have to be lent rolled all the time.

I’m excited about it because this summer it’s big enough that I can put it down in our living room and both kids can use it at the same time.  It is soft enough that I can lay Gracie on it for tummy time or for a change of scenery, but it has enough color and activity to it that Bean can play on it with us at the same time.  Jackie got us the Dino-Land one (which I can’t find an online link to, by the way…sorry!) so the back side has this whole dinosaur theme that Bean loves.  He pulls all his toys out and spreads them all over the playmat.  Then he rolls around on it, jumps across the letters, and walks around the edges trying not to “fall down,” as he says.

It’s also indoor/outdoor compatible, so this summer I can set it up on  the back porch and while Bean plays outside, Gracie can hang out under the shade on her playmat.  It just has so many uses!

It’s a little expensive for a playmat, but totally worth it if you can swing it.
