I’m getting ready to share an obnoxiously simple idea. The fact that I find this blogworthy might actually lower your respect for me. But I don’t care. It’s changing my life. Or, at least my summer.

Let me at least start at the very beginning and share a cheeky little story so that you feel like you get something minimally interesting out of this post. When I left Connecticut, a co-worker gave me a Dove gift basket as a going away present because we were going to be uprooted and homeless for a few days and I kept worrying I’d lose my toiletries. Inside that gift basket was a little bottle of Dove body spray.

It smelled incredible. Clean. Fresh. Like I’d just stepped out of the shower. But it was still a real light scent, too, so it wasn’t over powering. I’d douse myself in it before I left for work and by the time I got there, it was just a gentle scent that had almost worn off. I loved it.

Now that it’s summer here in Florida…well…I’m sweating like a pig. There’s just no other way to say that. Anytime I step outside, it feels like I wrap myself in an electric blanket. It’s so stinking hot! I’m on the go so much with the kids that I got this brilliant idea to fight the heat. I keep my body splash in my diaper bag now and when I’m feeling hot and sweaty, I just spray myself down. Because it’s not a very powerful scent and because it doesn’t stay on real heavily all day, I can use it several times and it doesn’t ever overwhelm me. Plus, it’s such a cool breeze that it’s like stepping into a cold shower on a hot day.

Seriously. I am in love.

Sadly, I’m almost out of my Refreshing scent, so when I went to Target last week, I decided to branch out and try something new. This time, I have the Revive one and I might love it even more than the Refresh.

This one is a pomegranate and lemon scent, which makes it so summery. I must use it 10 times a day.

So. If you’re overheating a bit (or if you’re smoldering in central Florida…) this summer, throw one of these beauties in your bag. It’s the best pick-me-up $3.97 can buy you.

(Even though I am so oddly excited about this, it is not a paid advertisement or review. I’m just oddly excitable.)

1) Alaina: I may or may not have been known to carry around travel Bath and Body spray for this exact reason. I hate feeling icky like that! (07.13.2011 03:46pm)

2) Laura: Funny thing - I JUST (like as in 2 seconds ago!) sprayed myself down with the "Cool Essentials" (cucumber/green tea) scent of this. I got it in the same random way you did a few months ago and keep it on my desk at work for much-needed refreshment (my office is known as the "warm office" for good reason). I'm glad to know there are other scents out there as well! (07.13.2011 03:50pm)

3) Waiting for Bulgaria: I'm smoldering here in Central, Texas and may have to give this a try. I'm not a perfume girl, but I'll go for something light and airy any day. (07.13.2011 03:52pm)

4) Tara@MarriedWithChild: I was a sucker to the commercial of this spray matching your deodorant. For whatever odd reason I had I thought it was just as great a feeling to match the spray and deodorant as when I match my bra and panties! Yes I am easily amused but soooo ok with it. Spray away and enjoy in this sauna we call home! (07.13.2011 03:56pm)

5) Brooke: I love these, too! We don't get the sweltering, muggy heat that I'm sure you probably get in Florida, but California does get pretty hot... and I hate it! These are so light and refreshing ! (07.13.2011 04:18pm)

6) Alicia: I have been wondering about these here in terribly humid Tennessee! I will have to get me some! (07.13.2011 04:22pm)

7) Alyssa: So funny that you posted this. I was just thinking about picking up some body spray because I'm not a perfume person but I like a little scent and I use dove deodorant so I thought I might try it. Now I know I will :) (07.13.2011 04:31pm)

8) Trish: We live in hot and humid New Orleans. I discovered this last year and have worked my way through the scents. I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT :) (07.13.2011 05:00pm)

9) Jenna: I have been looking for this stuff everywhere and can't find it. I haven't really been having food cravings during my pregnancy, but I have been having smell cravings! I need to find this stuff! Thanks! (07.13.2011 05:02pm)

10) Lisa: I love body sprays. Perfumes can be too overwhelming and I find body sprays so refreshing. Great find :) (07.13.2011 05:05pm)

11) Ally Garner: How have i missed these? i've never even heard of these body sprays. I love Dove body wash & deodorants. It's 10 degrees hotter than hell in NC right now. Can't wait to try these - thanks for sharing Katie! (07.13.2011 07:00pm)

12) Tara: I have a Bodycology spray that I use for that very same purpose! I thought I was the only one, but reading the comments above I see I'm not! (07.14.2011 07:15pm)

13) Abby @ They Lend Me Their Hearts: those are yummy! I'm currently using a similar one from Degree. It's called Sexy Ingrigue and it has a matching deoderant.... I feel sexier and more intriguing somehow when I spray it on. I wish it lasted longer but like the Dove ones it wears off after a little bit. I have no ties to "Degree" except that I like to smell good :o) (07.14.2011 09:26pm)

14) Emily Langston: In love with the peach one! Also, wait until after Christmas and snag Victoria's Secret body mist in Pink Chiffon... it's like a cross between lilies and baby scent. Perfect for Summer! And only 6 bucks! You get 12 oz too!! (07.15.2011 11:12am)

15) Melissa: I've never tried anything like this, but it sounds spectacular! I'm heading to Oklahoma later this month where it's triple digits and horrible humidity. I will be going to the store before we leave to get some of this for sure! (07.15.2011 04:28pm)

16) Rachel: Ohhh...Try putting it in the icebox! It feels so nice. I live in Oklahoma right now and it is sweltering and keeping a refreshing mist for body and one for the face (MAC has a good one) in the icebox is such a treat. (07.15.2011 05:22pm)

17) Melissa: At what store did you find the spray? I can't find it here in Colorado. Would love to try it if I can find it! (07.20.2011 12:50pm)
