Graaaaaaacie Girl

Through all the change that’s been going on around us lately, there has been one constant, shining, bright spot. One place I can always go for a little break in the day’s hectic pace.

My Itty Bitty.

All of us are going through a little bit of an adjustment period after the move. I’m adjusting to being back at work, which is exhausting. Chris is adjusting to being a homeowner again, which means he’s fixing everything that isn’t working yet around the house (incidentally, everything is breaking – the dishwasher, the dish disposal, the dryer, the TV in our bedroom, the pool pump, the lawn mower…ahhh, the joys of homeownership…). Bean’s having a hard time adjusting to living in our new house and keeps waking up in the middle of the night, crying, and asking to go home.

All of this means our house has been a little out of sorts this week. We’re happy and we’re excited, but we’re adjusting.

But Gracie?

Girlfriend hasn’t missed a beat. Whether she’s at daycare or in her new room or hanging out in the kitchen in her Bumbo while I cook, Gracie is just about the happiest little thing around here.

And she’s hitting all kinds of milestones in the middle of all this chaos. Last week she rolled over for the first time and hasn’t stopped since. She’s just about to be able to roll over from back to front now. For as mushy as her little fat rolls are, Gracie Girl has some ab strength in that belly.

She also started eating rice cereal last week and this week we started baby food, too. I gave her pears first and I seriously thought she was going to stand up and shout, “WELL HOT DAMN!” She ate that stuff right up! Tonight we tried peas for the first time and that wasn’t quite so popular. I ended up mixing it with the pears, though, and she ate it all.

More than those milestones though, Gracie is really blossoming into such a fun, happy, squealy baby. She’s able to entertain herself a lot more now (thank goodness!) and so she just goes where we go and rolls around, laughing, and cooing and babbling until someone comes over to play with her.

It really amazes me how powerful babies are sometimes. No matter how chaotic things get, how hectic my schedule becomes, how bad our moods are, or how tired we are at the end of the day, none of us can resist laughing back at big, gummy, chunky, happy Gracie Girl. She’s good for all our souls.
