10) Leah: I answered the same to just about everything. I grew up a little bit of everywhere but my parents are from East TN. This is so wrong but when it rained with the sun shining my dad use to say it meant the devil was beating his wife. This is from a good southern Baptist boy...no clue where he learned that!! 25) Bec: I grew up in Wisconsin and now live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and though you may not have a traditional southern accent, you definitely talk differently than we do in the Midwest. Things we say different are: caramel, pecan, coupon..and i've never heard of "rolling" it's TP'ing here, and what the heck is a roly poly and a buggy?! LOL. 29) liz@carpeseason: That was great! I am an ESL teacher, so dialect is right up my alley. I say route like rowt and caramel like car-mel. I also Tee-Pee a house, drink pop, and wear gym shoes. And buggy? That's hilarious. We use carts in Minnesota :) Check out the book "Made in America: An Informal History of the English Language in the U.S." by Bill Bryson. It's hilarious.
