Our Weekend in Pictures

Well, kids. This weekend was a rosy one for our family. Roseola went through Gracie’s class at school and so, naturally, Gracie was kind enough to bring it home and share it with her brother. Roseola isn’t too bad actually. It’s like a bad cold, but with extra high fevers (Gracie’s hovered around 103 for three days) and then a nasty little rash when that fever finally breaks. It hasn’t been horrible for either of them, but it certainly put the breaks on several of our weekend plans.

So, what DID we do this weekend?

On Friday night, Bean started running the dreaded fever (am I the only mom out there who hates fevers? I can handle throwing up or poop or viruses or whatever you throw at me, but fevers make me so darn nervous! Yuck!) so, Chris broke out the Wii and after Gracie went to bed, he and Chris stayed up for a little bit bowling and golfing.

Saturday Chris had to work and Gracie was really not feeling good and slept most of the time, so Bean and I had almost the whole day to ourselves. We colored, watched football, ate peanuts right out of the shell, and dive bombed army soldiers from the top of our stairs. It was a really laid back, quiet day and I was so happy to spend a day with my favorite little boy.

Late Saturday afternoon, Gracie hit a big milestone when she woke up from her nap. She sat in the high chair for the first time and had a little dinner.

She loved her little chair and on Sunday morning, she pulled it right up to the breakfast table and ate with us like a big girl. It was so sweet!

Bean was not so happy about her joining the kitchen table. According to him, it’s for big boys only.

He warmed up a little later though when he realized she couldn’t reach his bowl of Cheerios.

Sunday afternoon, both the kids and I were getting stir crazy. We’d been in the house since Thursday afternoon. We needed OUT. So, Chris hung our baby swing in the backyard for us and we spent a couple hours getting some sunshine. According to my dad, that is better for you than any medicine. I think he’s on to something…

All in all, it was a nice, slow weekend, which is just what the kiddies needed. By today, Bean was ready to go back to school and Gracie has no rash or fever, but I did keep her home an extra day just to be safe. I’m glad everyone is feeling better, but I have to say that forced slow weekends at home aren’t too shabby…
