YourKidVid For the Win!

Every Christmas morning from my childhood, I remember a giant 1980’s camcorder set up on a tripod in the corner of our living room, recording our every move.  Sounds a little creepy now, but back then it was just the way of the 80’s.  We can record a home movie?  Well, let’s make it a full-length feature film of my children opening every single present for THREE HOURS!

Top THAT, Pixar!

Today, home movies are a little different.  We take them on tiny phones, and we post them to social media sites, like Instagram, which limit us to a mere 15 seconds to capture the magic.  Not quite the cinematic experience of my childhood, let me tell you.

I have been plagued by these tiny digital footprints for a while now.  I take videos of my kids all the time on my iPhone.  I post them on Facebook for my friends and family, or I share them on Instagram for you all to see.  But then what?  I have hundreds of these little snippets of our lives just sitting in my computer.  They aren’t really worth keeping, to be honest, but I wouldn’t dare delete them, either.  Which is why I was over the moon excited when a company called YourKidVid approached me about a blog review!

YourKidVid takes your tiny digital memories and collects them together into one Hollywood-style home movie.  This is perfect for me because, while I can preserve and improve my photos, I don’t know what else to do with these videos once I take them, and YourKidVid does this for me.  They’re a team of L.A. award-winning producers, directors, and editors who have decided to take their talents and bring them to your home videos, making them hip, fun, and shareable.

I sent them about 10-15 minutes worth of random little videos I had taken throughout 2013, and they worked their cinematic magic and created this for me:

I love it! It captures all of our memories in one place, and I can go ahead and delete those little movies that are taking up space on my hard drive. I have also thought about taking all those little video clips I took during our Christmas break and having them make a Christmas one for me to remember Christmas, 2013. Actually, you could do this for any event. Just send in videos from an event, and create one big movie to keep instead of all those little ones. And think how great this would be to commemorate someone’s birthday! Just send in the video clips you have of someone and then – voila! – a professional quality mini-movie in their honor!

If you’re interested in trying it out, YourKidVid has generously offered a 20% off discount code to MC readers from now through January 31. Use the coupon code: YKV-62RQ. Not sure it’s for you, but think someone else you know would love a video like this? YourKidVid also sells gift cards, so you can give the gift of a movie to someone you love!

I have two year old twins and a one year old baby girl. I have tons of videos of them that just haven’t quite found their way off my iPhone. Cannot wait to look back on this crazy life we have created with a great compilation video 🙂

Hi Brittany! Sorry for the delay getting back to you on your special services request. We’ve had a busy holiday season getting all of the great “year in review” and “holiday memory” videos finished ASAP so responding to requests for non-standard projects got a little backed up. Our apologies! We’ll be back to you shortly!! <3 Yourkidvid.com

This is a fantastic idea! My one year old has quite a few developmental delays. I try to record little videos of his progress (during his physical therapy and at home) as much as I can because each breakthrough, no matter how small, is so precious!

That is amazing! Like you we have tons of random 1min or less video clips and I don’t have the time or skill to turn them into something manageable. What a great service!

We ran away to the courthouse in August and there are cell phone videos of our little ceremony and I would love to have them compiled into one video!

I would make a video for my parents of all the little movies I have of them playing with their 20 month old granddaughter!

I love your blog! I have a 2 1/2 year old and an 8 month old. What an awesome idea! I would love to put all the videos of Landon’s 1st year together 🙂

That’s a great idea (Your Kid Vid). I could definitely see creating one as a gift for family members or friends. Now I can finally do something with the 3 billion pics that will never get put on a wall. How can I enter to win the video prize?

I would make a video of my super cute niece and surprise my brother and sister in law with the video for her birthday!

I would love to compile some of the short videos of my boys. I have been looking locally for someone. Thanks for the recommendation. Would love to win!

What a fun idea! My parents recently moved abroad – I would love to send them a video of my children and nieces from the holidays! 🙂

That was a phenomenal video, it’s hard to believe they were just snippets. My husband and I both have several videos on our iPhones of our little guy who just turned one in December, it would be great to see how they would be put together into one video.

I would LOVE this! My videos are also just stitting on my computer and phone with no where to go. I think I would just go with a mixed up, This Is Our Life, style video. Just throw it all in there together in one big lump 🙂

I have all these short videos from our vacation to Disney World, one is of my girls doing the Harlem Shake at Hollywood Studios, another of us riding Splash Mountain, some of fireworks and parades and that is what I would send in! What an awesome way to have a live action memory of a vacation!!

Aww your video is awesome! I love how they highlighted the kids’ names. I would love a video for my son’s first year. Thanks for the giveaway!!

This sounds amazing! I would love to compile all my little 15-30 second videos in a premium video! That would be so cool. Thanks for sharing this!
