Where Happiness Is Found

Last week, I realized that I had a random four-day weekend at work for MLK weekend.  I also realized that Chris was going to be in tech rehearsals all weekend.  This instantly changed a four-day weekend into a four-day stress-fest.  So, my mom and I planned a last minute road trip to Atlanta with the kiddos to visit my sister and her family. It never takes much to convince Nana to visit her grandbabies!

We had such a great visit while we were there! Ginny made plans for us to go to LegoLand on Saturday morning. It was a lot of fun, especially for Bean. We rode the two rides, built Lego cars and raced them, played in giant Lego pits, and Bean dominated the playground.

Mostly, though, we just hung out at my sister’s house. The kids played so great together. Tillman and Bean were joined at the hip. Anything Bean did, Tillman wanted to do. And Gracie was right there with them. They all had a blast!

This little man and his cheeks KILL ME! I could kiss them all day – and I did!

I didn’t know until about an hour after I took these pictures that there was a floorboard in this car and so Gracie couldn’t put her feet down. I kept wondering why she wasn’t going anywhere!!!

On Sunday, I got to spend the morning with my friend, Grayson, who moved away from Orlando in order to live in Europe for most of last year and is now living outside of Atlanta. Even though she has abandoned me (YES, GRAYSON, ABANDONED!), it was still so good to see her. She was a fashion design major in school and works in fashion, so she took me shopping. I’ll have to show you my new clothes soon because they are beautiful!!!

I loved everything about this past weekend, and it was exactly what I needed. Relaxation, family, friends, shopping, and lots of laughter.

This year, I am focusing on the word “happiness.” I’ve been trying to seek it out and recognize it in my life. It is only January 21, and already I can tell you that happiness has very little to do with what you are doing and almost entirely has to do with who you are doing it with. Turns out, my life is pretty happy without my seeking.

Your posts are so inspirational. I have a 2 month old and recently my little family has been going through hell, and your blog does so much for keeping me positive and reminding me to turn back to the Lord for strength. (And I repeat most of them to my SO and it helps him refocus as well.)

And I have to mention, we have taken so many parenting tips from you for now and the future. (a cloth on the baby to keep him warm during a bath. I would have NEVER thought of that on my own. We bookmarked many of your posts for when our son is a toddler.)

I love seeing all of these happy photos of your family! I love seeing my imaginary “friends” laughing and having such a great time. I also am impressed at how quickly a family weekend came together and you just made it happen. Good for you 🙂
