At the End of the Day

At the end of the day, Chris and I are drained.

Work has taken a ton out of me. If I go to the gym, that takes more out of me. Cooking dinner, serving dinner, cleaning up dinner – it all takes what’s left out of me.

Every night, I wonder if I have it in me to do baths. The kids had one the night before. How dirty could they be?

I’m not sure what happens in that daycare all day, but those kids come home sweaty from the playground, sticky from craft projects, and smiling from ear to ear. I guess we really couldn’t ask for more from a daycare, really.

So, after dinner, I have to summon the energy to make it through bath time.

And somehow, there is always more than enough energy during bath time to keep me going.

I guess that’s one of the many miracles of parenthood. Just when you think you’re tapped out. Finished. Done.

You always have more to give.
