Wednesday Wonderings and Emojis

  1. I don’t want to be on my diet anymore.  I just bought Ezekiel bread.  Ever heard of it?  The Bible verse Ezekiel 4:9 is printed on the bag: “Take also unto thee Wheat, and Barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and Spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make bread of it…” I’m mean, I’m all about some mad Bible verses, yo.  But what the hell is spelt and why is it in my bread?  Jesus, bring me dark chocolate.  Amen.
  2. persons-0056When I whined to Chris that I didn’t want to eat anymore vegetables and that I missed all the Valentine’s Day chocolate, he hugged me and said, “You love broccoli!  It’s so… green!”  He gets a high five for being my best cheerleader.  Also, I love him because he eats Valentine’s candy after I have gone to bed.  He’s a winner.
  3. persons-0008Gracie is talking 90 miles an hour, 24 hours a day right now.  She basically narrates her own life.  “I’m going to go upstairs, take off my shoes, open my notebook, sharpen my pencil, and then write a sentence.  The sentence is going to say, ‘I love words.’ And then I am going to bring it back downstairs and give it to you, Mom.”  Seriously.  It’s simultaneously one of the cutest and most annoying things ever.
  4. url-2Speaking of Gracie, she has her first loose tooth.  She didn’t even know she had one.  I noticed one of her bottom front teeth was slightly crooked and, sure enough, it wiggled when I touched it.  Her eyes were as round as saucers and she squealed for 10 minutes.  And then she told us every person she’s ever known that has had a wiggly tooth before.
  5. face-with-rolling-eyesThis week, the kids had Valentine parties in their classrooms at school.  Gracie came home and immediately pulled out her notebook and pencil.  She dumped all of her class Valentine’s out on the floor and started writing furiously in her notebook.  I asked her what she was doing and she replied, “I’m writing down everybody’s name who gave me a Valentine so that I’ll know who DIDN’T give me one.”  We had a talk about being gracious, since her name is GRACE, after all.  Not sure it stuck.  Will revisit soon.  P.S.  Caleb did NOT give her a Valentine.
  6. url-1Chris and I spent Valentine’s day at Cub Scouts.  It was so romantic.  When I asked Chris later how he was going to make up for it, he said he was going to whisk me away this weekend on a romantic adventure.  Which is funny because we are camping with Cub Scouts this weekend.
  7. url-3We are going camping at the Daytona Speedway this weekend.  We get to camp in the center of the racetrack and watch two races.  We are not NASCAR fans and have never been to a race, but I’m oddly excited anyway.  So is Bean.  He keeps asking to drive a car.  I have explained over and over that we are simply WATCHING the race.  Not sure it stuck.  Will revisit soon.  P.S.  He is packing his sunglasses, just in case he gets to drive a race car.
  8. urlChris and I are starting a company together for a project that I can’t talk about yet (nothing blog related, but still pretty exciting).  The other night we were setting up our LLC paperwork and bank accounts and he asked me if we wanted to be 50/50 owners or 49/51.  I felt like that was a pivotal point in our marriage.  Was he being subliminal?  Was he hinting at something?  Just in case, I went with the 49/51.  P.S.  I’m the 51.
  9. Flushed_Face_EmojiI went to get my nails done today and I got the nail tech that drives me crazy.  She is so enthusiastic that it makes me want to throw up.  Also, she’s touchy-feely.  I mean, I know there will be a certain amount of touching because she’s doing my nails, but she’s a stroker.  Women will know what I’m talking about.  Yeesh.  Gives me the willies.  But she gives a mean manicure.  And when she is finished, she acts like it’s the greatest manicure she’s ever seen.  She holds up my hands and croons all over them, “So pretty!  So pretty!  My favorite!  My favorite!” until I pull my hand away and leave, feeling dirty and weird.
  10. emojiA friend of mine from high school messaged me this weekend for advice on starting a new blog (Hi, Kristin!).  I am always ashamed to admit it, but you know how I learned to blog?  The book, “Blogging for Dummies.”  Fo’ real.  I love those darn books and I have a ton of them.  In fact, you can follow the journey of my life on my bookshelf by my collection of Dummies books.  “Caribbean for Dummies.”  “Homebuying for Dummies.”  “Puppies for Dummies.”  “Blogging for Dummies.”  “New York for Dummies.”  and the list goes on…  P.S.  I’m not a dummy.

Try the cinnamon raisin Ezekiel bread- it’s so delicious. I put a little earth balance on it (not sure if you can have that), and it’s great!

I thought this post was hilarious. I love all of your emojis and post scripts! (PS: Daytona Speedway (and all NASCAR races) is VERY loud. Bean should pack some earplugs along with his sunglasses.) 😉

My daughter used to narrate her life, too! Except she did it in third person, as if she were observing herself. I miss those days! (She’s almost 15 now.)
