Today I stayed home with Beanie because he was sick. When I first decided to stay home today, I was so excited. This was going to be a great day. Me and my sick, little Beanie. We’d cuddle on the couch. We’d watch old movies. We’d eat soup and formula. It was going to be awesome.

Unfortunately, Beanie had different plans. His plans included fussing, coughing, fighting sleep, and throwing temper tantrums.

I handled it the only way I knew how.

Which makes me wonder if I really would make a good stay at home mom after all…

I’m giving the Bean away.Â He’s free to a good home.

Underneath those big blue eyes and chubby cheeks is a force to be reckoned with.

I’ve already told you a little bit about this past weekend.Â How my three month old baby beat my emotions out of me and then told me to suck it up and deal.

Don’t get distracted by that big soft belly.Â Don’t be fooled by those pudgey little fists.Â Beanie has been a pill lately.Â Totally and completely.Â It started this past weekend when he seriously cried almost all weekend long.Â Loud, piercing cries that simultaneously broke my heart and made me want to ram my head into the wall.

We thought maybe it was because his daycare schedule had been interrupted at home on the weekend.Â And after some very thoughtful and kind suggestions from you readers, we decided that next weekend we would try to keep more to the daycare schedule to make the transition as easy as possible.

Unfortunately, I may not live until next weekend because if I have to endure another night of Beanie’s wailing, I may stab myself in the eye with a turkey baster.

“Oh, how cute!Â That baby is trying to put his toy AND his hand in his little mouth at the same time!Â So precious!”

Don’t do it.Â Don’t fall for his tricks.Â He’s one binky away from blowing his lid.Â Really.Â He could go at any minute.Â We only thought it was the daycare schedule.Â But now we know this issue is so much more than just a daycare schedule.Â Beanie has come home every night his week and just cried and cried.Â I asked his teachers if he’s like this during the day and they say that he’s not.Â That he’s talkative and sleeps good and eats big.Â Nope, they haven’t noticed anything different.

Oh, good.Â Then its just me.

In all seriousness, we have got it narrowed down to one of two things.Â He’s either just really worn out from being at the daycare all day or he has the dreaded COLIC.

AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!Â Â NOOOOO!!!!!Â NOT THE COLIC!!!!!!!!

Yes, it may be colic.Â I hate that word though.Â I think it gets thrown around too much.Â A fussy baby and everyone immediately jumps to colic.Â I read somewhere that in order for it to truly be colic, your baby should pass (or fail, depending on how you look at it) the Rule of Three:Â He must cry for at least 3 hours at a time, at least 3 days in a row, for a period of at least 3 weeks.

Sadly, Beanie meets the Rule of Three.

I’m still hoping against hope that he is still adjusting to daycare.Â Sure its been almost two weeks, but it takes babies a while to adjust, right?Â Right?Â RIGHT?????Â So, we’ve made some changes around our house to see if they help the situation.

First, we’ve increased his formula.Â He’s getting bigger bottles now and that seems to keep him happy for longer periods of time.Â Second, we’re moving bedtime up earlier – from 9:00 to 7:30.Â And – at the suggestion of my mother who I called practically in tears asking what the hell was wrong with my baby – we’re waking him up around 11:00 PM to give him one “moonlight feeding” before he goes back to sleep until the morning.Â Maybe this will help keep him under control a little more.

Or, maybe he’ll cry more and I’ll have to sell him on eBay.
