These are the times when I should put down the camera and intervene for the benefit of my child.

I mean, the kid did just lose half his tooth.Â Shouldn’t I feel the need to protect his eyes now more than ever?

“Yes, that’s my baby over there.Â The blind one with the missing front tooth.”

But just about the time I realized I should step in as the adult in the situation…

Chris stabbed Bean in the guts and he died a very slow, dramatic death.

And then they built a fort underneath the jumparoo.Â And they both still had all their eyeballs, so what more could a mom ask for?

After Bean’s haircut yesterday (and before the colossal meltdown at dinner that night), we took him to the park with Chris’ sister, Annie, to celebrate what a big guy he was getting his hair cut.Â It was his first time in a park.Â I think he liked it.Â What about you?

Tomorrow I’m heading to New York with my sister for her bachelorette weekend.Â And – news flash – babies can’t come to bachelorette weekends.Â This means I’ll be leaving Bean overnight for the first time.Â And not just overnight, but until Sunday.Â That’s three full days and two full nights without my Beaner.

Now, I realize that Bean will be in very capable hands.Â Chris will be fine.Â Bean will be fine.Â I, however, may not be fine.

I already miss him and I haven’t even left yet.

But I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought once or twice about sleeping in a hotel room for two nights.Â A hotel room with black out curtains.Â A hotel room with silent, soundproof walls.Â A quiet, peaceful hotel room with a 24-hour room service.
