Great is Thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy Faithfulness

It will be five years ago this May that our family picked up and moved from Connecticut to Orlando in order to be closer to our extended family.  If you are new around these parts, then you missed that great transitional period in our lives.  It was a terrible, turbulent time in our home, when we were broke, unemployed, uninsured, and trying desperately to hold on to what was left of our faith. Chris and I prayed and prayed about our move back to Florida.  We had a wonderful, thriving life…

A Trip Home

A Trip Home

This past weekend, our family took a trip back to our hometown of Gulf Breeze, Florida.  One of my oldest and dearest friends, Sarah, is expecting her second little girl in a few weeks, and I was so happy to be able to celebrate her this weekend. We spent the rest of our weekend spending time with Chris’s family. We hung out at his grandparent’s house, playing with a new remote control airplane out in the yard (which, incidentally, Bean and Chris have now accidentally crashed into our pool and…

OH MY GOD! I’M IN MY 30s!!!!!!

OH MY GOD! I’M IN MY 30s!!!!!!

The absolute WORST thing happened to me today. I realized how old I am.  More specifically, I realized how young I am NOT.  And, let me tell you.  That’s a heartbreaking realization. So, here’s what happened. I had to attend a professional development training after school today.  I got there on time, moseyed into the classroom where we would be having class, and looked around for a place to sit.  Most of the tables were full, but I spotted a seat at a table full of youngish women who seemed…

The Man I Didn’t Marry

The Man I Didn’t Marry

When we were in high school, I loved him because he didn’t care what anyone thought.  He didn’t care what he should or shouldn’t do.  And I loved him for that freedom because when I was with him, I felt free, too. In college, he began to love me as an adult.  Not a perfect adult (are there any perfect adults?), but in that “I will love you for the rest of my life” way.  And I loved him for that promise of what was to come. In the earliest…

Hello again, imaginary friends! I missed you so while I was away, but I did enjoy a much needed break from my blogging grind stone.  I have been soaking up time away from work and responsibilities and just focusing on playing with my kids, spending time with my sweet hubby, and hanging with my family.  It has been refreshing and renewing for my mind, body, and soul, let me tell you. I’ll post about what shenanigans were had over our Christmas break soon, but the New Year has been on…

The Christmas Spirit

The Christmas Spirit

When the afternoon bell rang last Friday at school, I was out of work for an entire, heavenly week! WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!! Chris headed to New York for a bachelor party this pas weekend, so I loaded the kids and Big Molly up and we headed to my mom’s for a weekend-long visit. When I found myself sitting in her sunroom on Saturday morning, drinking my morning coffee (which is really my morning Diet Coke because I don’t drink coffee…), I knew I had made the right choice. We spent the…

First Day of Kindergarten

First Day of Kindergarten

Today was Bean’s first day of kindergarten!!!!! He was so stinking excited! We all were, really. There have only been two times in the kindergarten preparation that made a little teary. The first was the night we went shopping for Bean’s school supplies. When he put that backpack on and started walking around, I was a blubbering mess. He just looked so big! And then this morning I was absolutely fine laying out his school clothes, getting him breakfast, packing his backpack. But there was just something about packing him…

All Good Things Come to an End

All Good Things Come to an End

Last week was my first week back at school.  Boooooooo!!!!!!  Hisssssssssss!!!!!  Students don’t come back to school until August 18, but we had to go back early for a two week training and then our regular pre-planning the week of August 11.  It’s just no fair, I tell you! I spent all last week teaching other teachers about digital technology in the classroom.  My master’s degree was in Educational Leadership and my focus area was in technology in education, so digital curriculum is a passion of mine.  I’ve been lucky…

Last week, I took the kids to the Downtown Disney splash pad. It’s one of our favorite summertime places. We went early in the morning (before 9:30) to avoid the summer Disney traffic. But since it was the week after Fourth of July, the crowds were a little slimmer. That’s actually a good insider tip for Disney. Plan your vacations the week AFTER a holiday. Most people come during the holiday week, so the lines are a lot shorter in the parks the following week. I’m still trying to learn…

Where Did My Sweet Boy Go?

Where Did My Sweet Boy Go?

The past week or so with the kids has about driven Chris and I insane.  Gracie is at a pretty decent stage right now, actually.  She is happy and loud and active and life is good.  But Bean?  Whew.  Something has hit him hard in the past few weeks. That dude has become so grumpy!  He is always complaining about something.  “But I don’t want that for dinner!”  “Gracie is annoying!”  “I don’t want to go grocery shopping!”  “Why do I have to give him a birthday present?” Mostly, I…
