Baseball Opening Ceremonies, 2015

Chris ordered a camera battery charger for me last week and saved my pictures. And my blog.  So, now we are back to regularly scheduled programming. Last weekend, we had Bean’s first tee ball game and Opening Ceremonies for the league.  This is his first year playing tee ball, so we were new to all of it.  And, man, it did NOT disappoint! Bean is LOVING baseball. He loves all parts – throwing, catching, batting. He likes practice and he really loved his first game. He has a great coach, and…

#oneword2015

Hello again, imaginary friends! I missed you so while I was away, but I did enjoy a much needed break from my blogging grind stone.  I have been soaking up time away from work and responsibilities and just focusing on playing with my kids, spending time with my sweet hubby, and hanging with my family.  It has been refreshing and renewing for my mind, body, and soul, let me tell you. I’ll post about what shenanigans were had over our Christmas break soon, but the New Year has been on…

Vacation Pictures, Part Two!!!!!

(This is a continuation of our vacation to the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee.  See it from the beginning here.) At the end of our awesome first day of vacation, we came home to the mountain cabin and roasted marshmallows with Big Molly on the deck.  The kids love to roast marshmallows, but they don’t really like to eat them, so I selflessly consumed about 10 pounds of roasted fluff on their behalf. Which is why I am eating carrots and lettuce this week, like a rabbit. The next…

Pop Some Popcorn! It’s Vacay Picture Time!

Oh, imaginary friends.  Come.  Sit on my couch and hold my photo album in your imaginary laps while I explain every single vacation photo to you in detail. There are 428. Seriously.  That’s how many I dumped off my camera today.  But, I am giving you the abridged version on the blog for the next couple of days so that I don’t have to purchase additional server space just to show you 84 pictures of Bean shooting his bow and arrow. But I’m getting ahead of myself… Let’s start at…

Weddings + @Instagram = #truelove

Chris and I went to a wedding this past weekend that rocked my socks.  First of all, it had a crucial element to all successful weddings:  A happy couple.  Ashlyn and Josh are the sweetest, kindest, nicest, down-right-perfect couple. Example:  Last year when I was going through a rough time after my dad had died, the two of them decided they wanted to do something to give our family a day of pure happiness.  So, they showed up at Chris’s office one morning and gave him four tickets to Sea…

She.

She loves castles, doll babies, and tea sets. She loves her brother even more. She squeals when she sees a butterfly and screams when she sees a lizard. She is deathly afraid of love bugs. She loves to cook. She loves babies. She loves jewelry. She loves shoes. She REALLY loves tutus. She has a laugh that brightens up the room. She is slow to anger. She believes every bump, bruise, scrape, or blow of the wind requires a bandaid. She hates to eat. She loves to drink apple juice.…

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

First of all, let me thank you for the outpouring of support yesterday!  You all made me feel much better and gave me some confidence about stepping up for my kids.  In answer to a lot of your comments, I received an email last night from the principal thanking me profusely for my email and asking for a description of the staff member so that the incident would not be repeated with other children.  I am really glad Bean is attending this school and I know that this is not…

My Father in Heaven

Monday marks the second anniversary of my dad’s passing.  It’s been two years, and even writing that first sentence still takes my breath away.  Two years later, and I still can’t believe he is gone. I don’t write about my dad often.  At least, not his passing, anyway.  I don’t really talk about it much either.  I still mention him in every day conversations, the way anyone mentions their parents from time to time.  “My dad used to…” or “My dad loved…”  I talk to the kids a lot about him,…

If You Give a Teacher a Summer Vacation…

Last Friday, I had to go to the grocery store. Simple enough task, right? We had a ton of food leftover from the Fourth of July, and our family had been eating hot dogs and pasta salad all week long. We were in need of substance. And milk. I figured while we were out, we should go by this awesome camera store in downtown Orlando that I had been meaning to visit. Colonial Photo and Hobby has been an Orlando staple since God was a boy, I’m sure. And I’m…

Sideline Momma

Last week, I took the kids to the Downtown Disney splash pad. It’s one of our favorite summertime places. We went early in the morning (before 9:30) to avoid the summer Disney traffic. But since it was the week after Fourth of July, the crowds were a little slimmer. That’s actually a good insider tip for Disney. Plan your vacations the week AFTER a holiday. Most people come during the holiday week, so the lines are a lot shorter in the parks the following week. I’m still trying to learn…
