Hashtag Squad Goals

My summer is quickly drawing to a close and I can feel it slipping away!  NOOOOOOO!!!!!  I have been back to work this week to work on getting the new year planned and on getting my classroom ready.  I’ll post pictures when it is finished.  It’s been nice to be back, but after two months of wearing pajamas and reading books all day, it’s exhausting to be productive for hours at a time! It has required happy hours with my sweetheart to help me survive. Last weekend, in one last…

A Toad Abode

This past weekend, we made a super quick trip to our hometown of Pensacola, Florida, to celebrate the 80th birthday of Chris’s grandmother, Grandma Brown.  Grandma Brown has been in my life since I was 15 years old.  She is very special to both Chris and me, and it was so nice to be able to celebrate her with family. We saw family members we hadn’t seen in years.  Unfortunately, I was having such a nice time talking to everyone that I didn’t take a single darn picture.  Chris’s aunt…

A Perfect Father’s Day Fore Us All!

On Father’s Day, the kids and I took Chris golfing.  It was the first time we have played as a family of four on an actual course, and not just at the driving range. I was a little skeptical at first.  I mean, golf is everything my kids are not – polite, quiet, contemplative, old.  And yet, they rocked it and had a blast in the process! I learned so much about them on the golf course, actually.  For example, I learned that baseball has completely ruined Bean’s golf swing.…

Summer Fail.

Yesterday was the first, real, official, full day of summer in our house.  I had big plans.  BIG PLANS.  I made a summer schedule, a summer bucket list, and a list of home projects I wanted to complete.  I WAS READY. And then I failed horribly. Here is what I did yesterday: The dishes The laundry (I just folded what has been sitting in my bedroom in baskets for two weeks now.  That counts, right?) Cleaned out the refrigerator Took Daisy to the vet (Spoiler Alert: She’s huge and healthy.)…

A New Adventure: Rock Climbing

We got the sad news a few weeks ago that Bean’s best friend is moving out of the country right after school ends this year.  Bean’s pretty devastated.  He and his buddy have been in both kindergarten and first grade together.  Not to mention, he lives right around the corner from us and goes to our church.  So, they see each other a lot.  They go to our youth group meetings on Wednesday nights at our church sometimes together, and Bean’s friend even came to watch Bean’s baseball games with his…

Relax. It’s Little League.

Bean’s team had playoffs this weekend.  They played on Saturday and Sunday and won both games, which means they are headed to the championship game this week. I’m so proud of him because he played both games really well.  Base hits, a couple good RBIs, great fielding, and he even made the final out to end the last playoff game. More than that, I was proud of him for his sportsmanship. You guys should have seen some of the parents and coaches at these two games.  I was embarrassed for…

Happy Campers

This past weekend, we went camping with some families from our Cub Scout pack at Ft. De Soto National Park right outside of St. Petersburg, Florida. This was our second time camping with Scouts, and it only confirmed to us how thankful we are that we have become part of this group of friends and families. Chris and I took the day off work on Friday and kept the kids home from school so that we could head over to St. Petersburg around lunch time. We got to the campsites…

We’ve Got Ourselves a Screamer

For as dainty and girly as Gracie is, you would probably be surprised to learn that she is a screamer. Actually, that may not surprise you at all, in fact.  Screaming has come naturally to Gracie all her life.  Sometimes, I think she might still have colic. (*shudder*) Let’s not talk about colic. I’ve done my best to drink that stage of my life away… Lately, though, she has added a little “umph” to her screams.  She now screams like she is about to murder someone. She turns red in…

Spring Break Staycation: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Spring Break for our schools was last week, and we left no stone unturned.  I love that I get the same breaks as my kids do because it means I’m super excited to be out of school, too!  We spent most of our week just hanging out and running errands.  We swam in our swimming pool for the first time this year, went to the dentist, visited Nana and Grandma, finally got Gracie’s bedding for her new big girl daybed (Ikea, of all places!), and did some spring cleaning and laundry.…

The Truth Prevails

My girlfriend, Danielle, and I made plans weeks ago to stay one night at a Disney resort over Spring Break.  We decided that instead of breaking into a Disney resort pool (which is becoming increasingly harder with those darn MagicBands…*waves fist at sky*), we would become legit guests for a night and have a little one night staycation.  We booked our hotel and were going to check-in today, hang out by the pool all afternoon, play at the resort tonight, wake up, and play in the pool all day tomorrow,…
