Get Thee to a Borders!

I heard on NPR that Borders Bookstores are closing something crazy, like, 200 locations across the country.  Lucky for me, one of those stores is my local Borders.  While I hate to see businesses go out of business because I think about all those people without jobs, I did do a little happy dance when I heard it was closing.  Bean LOVES books.  He reads them all the time and because of that our books go through a lot of wear and tear.  So, I’ve been thinking for a while…

Book Worms and Book Ends

One of the things that I am most proud of as a parent is Bean’s love of books and reading. I started reading to him before he was even born. I’d read things out loud to him while I was pregnant at night when I laid in bed. When he was a newborn, I’d get him all snuggled up in his PJs after his bath and we’d read a little story even though he mostly slept through it. And as Bean grew, that continued to be part of our nightly…

Why I Could Never Marry a Vampire

(CAUTION:  This post is about Twilight.  Only read further if you have read the books, if you are interested in reading the books, or if you are absolutely sure you will not judge me because I have read the books.  It’s not my fault.  I blame the vampires.) I am an avid reader.  I love books.  I love bookstores.  I love bookmarks.  I love bookends.  I. Love. Books. Since having Bean, I have become pretty picky about what I read though.  My free time has become much more valuable to…

Book Smart

Let me start this post by telling you that what you are about to read is a real life dream come true.  I’m not one to use kitschy phrases like that – okay, yes I am.  But I really mean it this time.  Today I want to tell you all about what’s going on with my book. A few months ago, I was contacted by someone at a publishing house in New York.  I’m going to keep the person and the company confidential just in case I end up being…

Book Review and Giveaway

I have always been a big reader.  I love to read.  I went through a drought in my reading habit during my pregnancy because there was so much going on that every time I picked up a book, I couldn’t concentrate and found myself reading the same things over and over again.  Since Bean’s arrival, I have less time to read and so I have become picky as to how I spend that time.  I will start reading a book now and then decided it really isn’t worth my time…

My Best Friend Knows My Name So Now She’s My Sister

Ya’ll. P-Dub knows my name. Well, technically, she said Bean’s name first.  But seeing as to how he is of my loins, I feel that counts. Let me tell you the whole story as events transpired yesterday… 5:45pm – Chris, Bean, me, and our chaperon, Sarah, arrive at the bookstore where I have a major meltdown in the car and refuse to go inside because I am positive I have humiliated myself enough already. 5:55pm – Chris drags me inside. 6:00pm – We arrive at the bookstore and I am…

Exciting Things for Marriage Confessions

Several weeks ago, the amazing photographer, Jenn Hopkins, did some family portraits for us and I thought I’d share them with you.  They are gorgeous and we can’t thank her enough. We had portraits done for a few reasons.  I wanted some family pictures done in honor of Bean’s first birthday.  Sort of a celebration session of how far we’ve come as a family.  But there were other reasons as well.  Later this summer, MC will be launching a brand, spankin’ new website designed by preeeee-fessionals this time.  The design…
