Go, Go, Go, STOP.

Oh, friends.  What a wonderful problem I am having right now.  ClassMax is doing so incredibly well.  So much better, so much earlier than we expected.  Which is AMAZING and we are so grateful for this weird journey we are on, but it has thrown us for quite a loop here in the homeland.  Our days are full and our nights are even busier as we work to enter the next phase of development for ClassMax, which only leaves those precious afternoon hours of shuffling kids from one place to…

VROOM! VROOM!

This past weekend, Chris, Bean, and I left Gracie at home with Nana and went camping with Cub Scouts.  Out of all the camping we have done so far, this might have been my favorite.  We camped in the middle of the Daytona Speedway! Like, right there in the center of the race track! We had never been to a NASCAR event before, so this was a lot of first-times for our family (one of the things I love about Scouts!).  I worried that since we weren’t racing fans, it…

Scouts for All!

This Saturday, we had Bean’s Pinewood Derby Race with Cub Scouts.  It’s an annual event that all the boys love.  They get a wooden block and some wheels in a little box and that’s about it.  What they do with the derby car is up to them.  There is a weight requirement and a few other restrictions on building, but other than that, the sky’s the limit. Bean and Chris worked every night last week in the garage on his derby car.  They sanded it down to make it more…

Cub Scout Challenge: A Lesson in Serving

This past Saturday, my Cub Scout den went to a local park to pick up trash as a community service project.  Bean wasn’t actually able to be there because he had a baseball clinic (three cheers to starting baseball season again!), so I took Gracie with me and we met the boys at the park ourselves. They did so good and picked up a ton of trash, but their biggest challenge turned out to be tennis balls.  At the park where we were, there was a tennis complex with lots…

Good Job, Katie Girl

I’ve been thinking about my dad a lot recently.  I think about him all the time anyway, but lately it has been more than normal.  My mom is selling her house.  In fact, she closed on her new one just yesterday.  I’m so happy for her, but, as it turns out, seeing her move out of the house she shared with my dad is harder than I thought it would be.  On the day that she closed, she texted us the good news and we all celebrated with her.  But…

Happy Campers

This past weekend, we went camping with some families from our Cub Scout pack at Ft. De Soto National Park right outside of St. Petersburg, Florida. This was our second time camping with Scouts, and it only confirmed to us how thankful we are that we have become part of this group of friends and families. Chris and I took the day off work on Friday and kept the kids home from school so that we could head over to St. Petersburg around lunch time. We got to the campsites…

Adventure, Exploring, Laughing, and Growing

One of the things I did in the past year without blogging was to plug into my kids activities more.  One of those was getting involved in Cub Scouts with Bean.  He was a Tiger Scout this past year, and we have loved every single minute of it. One of my favorite things about Cub Scouts is how family-oriented it is.  Our whole family participates, even Gracie, and that not only makes it Bean’s extra curricular activity, but really a family commitment. Chris and I are the den leaders of Bean’s…
