Easter Recap 2017

Easter Recap 2017

We have had a glorious Easter today, friends.  I hope your families were able to spend time together, like ours, soaking up God’s love and Ultimate Sacrifice. Chris and I were ushers at one of our church’s services this morning. I was a little worried because Easter has one of the largest turn outs all year, but it turned out to be a perfect day to serve. I loved welcoming people into one of my favorite places on one of my favorite days. Plus, I was checking out all the…

Easter Basket Ideas – 5yo Boy and 4yo Girl

Easter Basket Ideas – 5yo Boy and 4yo Girl

I better mother would have had these finished weeks ago.  A better blogger would have documented these weeks ago. Unfortunately for you all, I’m neither. So, here we sit two days before Easter, ready to talk about Easter basket ideas.  Don’t judge.  I’ve been busy trying on my newest Stitch Fix, which I will post about next week. (SPOILER ALERT:  It’s my favorite one yet.) Therefore, I dedicate this post to all you other slacker moms out there who find themselves scrounging around for last minute Easter basket ideas.  Cheers to…

Teacups of Nots

Teacups of Nots

Oh, what an Easter we had, friends!  What joy!  What blessings!  What happiness! Our table was full of food and treats… Our baskets were full of eggs… Our backyard was full of children… Our house was full of family and friends. What more can you ask for? So often, I focus on the “not” in my life. What’s not in my closet. What’s not in my home. What’s not in my paycheck. What’s not in my driveway. What’s not in my marriage. What’s not in my life. And I think…

The Easter Bug

The Easter Bug

For Easter this year, we were celebrating with my mom and Grandma on Saturday and at our house with friends on Sunday.  It was supposed to be a great weekend.  Easter is my favorite holiday, and I was ready! But then Friday night, about 15 minutes after we put Gracie down, we heard her calling to us.  And as soon as I scooped her up in my arms, she threw up all over me.  And then all over her bed.  And then all over her floor.  It was horrible!  I…

Easter Baskets, 2013

Easter Baskets, 2013

This year, the Easter baskets runneth over for my kids.  Both grandmothers and I all made Easter baskets, so we are doling them out at various points throughout Easter weekend.  Grandmomma’s baskets will be opened tonight at our house.  She made them and stashed them here when she was visiting for Gracie’s birthday.  Chris and I will bring them out tonight for the kids.  Tomorrow we are having Easter lunch with Nana and my Grandma, and we’ll open Easter baskets from her then.  And, of course, the Easter Bunny will…

Cheap Gifts for an Easter Basket

Cheap Gifts for an Easter Basket

Every time I go to Target and see the Easter goodies in their aisles, I squeal inside (and sometimes out loud…).  Easter is coming, y’all!  First, I love it because of what it celebrates.  I love the hope that comes with Easter through the resurrection of Christ.  Makes my heart happy.  But I also love the spring decor and festivities.  Easter baskets, Easter egg hunts, Easter dresses and spring bow ties, and eggs of any and all varieties – deviled, Cadbury, Reese’s.  I just love it all! One of my…

Easter Basket Recap

Easter this year was pretty low key for us. In light of all that has been going on over the past few weeks, we decided to take it easy. I even put hosting the Easter lunch off on my parents, so I didn’t have to cook much either! How’s that for avoiding responsibilities?  We did the traditional things like dying Easter eggs… Later, we hunted eggs, too! But mostly, we just sat around and enjoyed being with family. The one thing I really focused on were our Easter outfits because…

Easter Recap

Easter ’round these parts is a day of relaxing, enjoying family and friends, and giving thanks that we serve a living God.  And yesterday it was also about a competitive game of croquet in our backyard with our friends and christening our pool for the first time this year. We were up early to open Easter baskets before church. Which meant Bean got hyped up on jellybeans and then we turned him loose on the nursery staff. That’s just good parenting, right there. We came home and sat around outside…

On Friday, Chris came home early from work so that we could take the kids up to see the Easter Bunny. I had Bean and Gracie all clean and cute and we were ready to get our bunny on. The mall that we went to is known for their Santa and Easter Bunny visits. They really go all out to make the experience over the top for the kids. I hadn’t seen it in person before, so I was really impressed with their Easter decorations and the bunny area. It…

Hooray for Easter!

Hooray for Easter!

Easter is my favorite holiday. I love it because of what it celebrates – the resurrection of Christ. And I love it for what it symbolizes – new beginnings. I love this time of year. I love spring colors and clothes and flowers. I love bunnies and chicks and Cadbury eggs. And I love Easter baskets. When I was growing up, my Mom’s favorite holiday ritual would have to be Christmas stockings. She’d spend months collecting the perfect little trinkets and odds and ends for our stockings. And because it…
