A Thanksgiving Miracle! Very Pinteresting…

Yesterday I did something miraculous. I baked. Actually, there was no baking required. Technically, I assembled. The second most miraculous thing was that what I assembled was a recipe I found on Pinterest. I’ve never seen something online and then turned around and made it before. Isn’t that weird? The third most miraculous thing I did yesterday was that my cookies ended up looking JUST LIKE this picture from Pinterest. Three Thanksgiving miracles in one day. So, I figured maybe I should share the recipe. This is what you’ll need:…

Preparing a Feast with a Beast

Last Thanksgiving, Bean was tiny. I think he made that Thanksgiving better for me because he was a real, live, breathing something to be so thankful for. But he couldn’t really do much yet. This year not only was he that something for me to be thankful for, but he was able to actually participate in the Thanksgiving festivities. He peeled potatoes with me. He read stories with his Aunt Annie on his Grandmomma’s iPad. And while we waited for the turkey to cook, he read books with me in…

I am Thankful

I am thankful for a roof over my head, a job that makes me happy, and food on our table every night. I am thankful for medical insurance and even more thankful that we haven’t had to use it yet. I am thankful for cool, evening breezes and for bright sunny days. I am thankful for my dogs who seem to love me even when I don’t make time to love them back. I am thankful for palm trees and sandy beaches. I am thankful for each person who comes…

Family, Pictures, and Grown Up Little Sisters

This past week we loaded up the fruitcake and stuffed Beanie in his car seat and drove 10 hours to my sister’s house in Virginia.   Once we got on the road though, the traveling actually ended up taking about 14 hours each way.   We stopped to spend the night at a hotel and ended up driving about four hours on Thanksgiving morning. Chris explained to Bean that in hotels, you were allowed to jump on the beds.   Turns out, this was the perfect way to start another…

Beancast: Traveling for Thanksgiving

This year, we traveled to Virginia to spend Thanksgiving with my family at my sister’s house.   The trip was supposed to take 10 hours according to Mapquest.   We factored in an extra 2 hours for Bean stops and traffic.   Turns out, we were in the car for almost 14 hours.   We ended up stopping and spending the night at a hotel.   Instead of writing about our travels, I took some video for you.   So its almost like you were in the car with us.…

A Thanksgiving Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, Today we come to you in thanks for all the many blessings you have given to us.   We thank you for the people in our lives that show us your grace and love through their friendship.   We thank you for husbands, wives, partners, and those who are closest to us who hold our hands through the trials and share our joys when we celebrate.   We thank you for new babies and the happiness that they bring into our lives.   And we thank you…

The Grandmomma Has Landed

On Saturday evening, the Heavens opened up and dropped a Grandmomma on my front porch.   Beanie was pretty excited. So was I. Chris’ mom, Jackie, and her boyfriend, Charles (which I like to pronounce “Chaahles…”), came to visit this weekend until Tuesday.   We are spending Thanksgiving with my sister, so Jackie decided to come up to visit before we left town.   I’m so glad, too!   Because I used most of my sick/vacation/personal/I-don’t-wanna-go days off of work when Bean was born, I’m not take any extra time…

Fall is for Family

This past weekend we planned to just lay low at the house.   Beanie was getting over his terrible cold and my cold was starting to get bad. But then we woke up Saturday morning and said to hell with that plan and we loaded the car up for a day trip.   In our defense, we wanted to go pick pumpkins and there just aren’t that many weekends left to do that in.   Although, the fact that it was only about 35 degrees outside should have probably deterred…

We Came, We Ate, We Conquored

Well, we survived Thanksgiving.   The turkey was moist, the stuffing was spicy, the mac ‘n cheese was to die for.   There were no fires in the kitchen, nothing burned on the stove, and we were all still speaking to eachother when we finally sat down for dinner.   All in all, it was a great Thanksgiving. One of the things I was the most thankful for this year was the outpouring of support, prayers, kind thoughts, and encouragement from you.   I must have read your comments 1,000…
