Paparazzi

A few months ago when we were in the process of moving to Florida, I had a lovely blog reader contact me.  She was a photographer in the Orlando area and offered to do a photo session for our family when we finally got here.  Last night, we met up with Jenn Hopkins and her sweet mother for our first ever family photo shoot. I had stalked Jenn’s photography website and spent days staring at her photos of engaged couples, brides, weddings, expectant mothers, newborn babies (my favorites!), families, and…

Wedding Weekend Extravaganza, Part IV

Wedding Weekend Extravaganza, Part IV

The wedding reception was at Apple Annie’s in Seville Quarter in Pensacola, Florida. See those martini glasses in the bottom right corner there? Those were for the MASHED POTATO BAR!! My mom made the topper for the wedding cake. Underneath it she inscribed the Bible verse they had read at their wedding ceremony. This was the candy bar. There were Chinese take-out boxes that said “How sweet it is to be loved by you” on them and guests got to fill their container with all the candy. This was also…

My Sister’s Wedding Extraveganza

My Sister’s Wedding Extraveganza

This past week we celebrated my sister, Ginny, who finally married her best friend, John Michael.  They were married on Saturday, April 24, but the wedding activities kicked off on Friday when my mom, grandmother, and sister threw a brunch for all of Ginny’s bridesmaids as a way to say thank you.  The brunch took place at the beach house my parents rented for the week and it was so much fun.  I got to see lots of Ginny’s closest friends that I hadn’t seen in a while and Ginny…

A Second Wedding

A Second Wedding

We finally pulled into our driveway at midnight last night after a week of celebrating my sister’s wedding.  It was a beautiful, beautiful wedding.  I’ve never seen a bride so happy before.  Ginny looked gorgeous and everyone had a really great time.  I’ll be posting a series of pictures this week from the wedding festivities, so be sure you check back for those.  But today, I wanted to write about something that happened to Chris and me at Ginny’s wedding. The past six months have been really hard for us…

Toasting the Bride

Toasting the Bride

On Saturday night after my cousin’s Eagle Scout ceremony, my aunt and uncle threw my sister and her fiance a wedding shower.  It was a lot of fun. But throughout the whole evening, I was reminded that their wedding is in exactly one month.  And you know what that means, don’t you? It means that I have to get thin, tan, and taller in exactly 30 days. But more than those things, it means that I have to give the toast at the wedding reception in 30 days. There are…

Bachelorette Weekend: Part Three

Bachelorette Weekend: Part Three

After our afternoon nap on Saturday, we got ourselves all gussied up for a night out on the town.  Ginny requested that each girl wear a black dress and as part of my hostess with the mostess theme, I told the girls I would provide brightly colored feather boas.  I ended up finding these perfect Florida Gator boas.  All of the girls went to UF and so these were perfect for this group. Ginny, of course, got the all white boa. For our big dinner out, we went to a…

Bachelorette Weekend: Part Two

Bachelorette Weekend: Part Two

Saturday morning, the original plan was to go to Max Brenner’s chocolatier restaurant in Union Square for a chocolate-themed brunch.  On Sunday morning, we were supposed to go to this beautiful, dainty, much nicer place for a morning-after brunch called Hundred Acres.  But we ended up switching and doing Hundred Acres on Saturday morning because we figured Friday night was going to be the tame night and all the girls would be in a much more presentable state on Saturday morning, rather than on Sunday morning after our big Saturday…
