Weekend Recap
It’s been a while since we have had a need for a good, lazy weekend. Most of our weekends feel like extensions of our regular weeks these days. But Chris has gone back to work at his office full time and I have been working four days a week on freelance contract gigs, so we were both pretty tired. A lazy weekend was just what we needed.
It started with a late dinner on the deck with the family. Bean was out riding bikes with some of his friends, so it was just Chris, Gracie, and me for a while and Gracie. Gracie did day camp all week last week at Chris’s theater, so she was full of drama and humor and her mouth was running 90 miles an hour. It was like having dinner and a show!
We are in the middle of watching the Hunger Games movies with the kids, so after we ate dinner and hung around for a bit outside, we went inside to watch “Catching Fire.” It was late bedtimes for everyone that night, but we ended our weeks happy and together and what’s better than that?!
Saturday morning, I went grocery shopping, but that was really the only chore I had to do. We spent the rest of the day out in the pool, which we hadn’t done in a while.
The kids swam while I alternated between the sun and the shade on the deck. Chris, who can’t sit still to save his life, was working on running electrical outlets out on the deck. He put one in for our mini-fridge and my fan, so we had cold drinks and a nice breeze! He’s the best!
We listened to music, ate snacks, swam, bathed the dogs, played corn hole, and basically did nothing all afternoon and it was wonderful.
You’ll notice that all of my pictures are taken from the angle of the couch. That’s because I never got up. I sat there all afternoon, swiveling and pivoting as things happened around me. It was the best.
Sunday was slow moving in the morning, too. But by lunch time, we were already at my mom’s house. I’ll share a whole post on Sunday later this week, but it was so nice to hang out with her for the afternoon… even if she did put us to work cleaning out her garage! 🙂
It wasn’t particularly productive. Nothing monumental happened. But we are definitely getting better at enjoying our quarantine bubble these days. School starts in three weeks for us, so we are soaking up these lazy summer weekends as long as we can!

Oh, wow! That photo of Gracie with your sunglasses! For a split second, I thought it was you. She is definitely your Mini-Me!
