Friday Freeforall!

Friday Freeforall!

Its finally Friday folks!   I’ve never been so ready for a weekend.   My feet are fried, my brain is battered, and my hair is frizzy.   Its just been that kind of a week. As a result, I am in no condition to blog today.   Unless you want to hear me complain about the very rude landscape man who wouldn’t stop blowing leaves on the sidewalk long enough to let me pass this morning and so I came to work with leaves and sticks in my hair……

Turning in My Party Planning Badge

Turning in My Party Planning Badge

I’ve mentioned before that Chris is throwing me a non-baby shower this weekend.   It was his idea.   He was so excited about having a baby that he wanted all of our friends to get together at our house for food, drinks, and a rootin’ tootin’ good time (the rootin’ tootin’ part was my idea).   So, this big event is on Saturday. In our house, I am the party planner.   I am the social director.   I am the planner, the list-maker, the organizer.   Chris has…

Just. Like. Lara.

Just. Like. Lara.

When I was in high school, I took drama as my elective.  Because I was interested in theater?   Hardly.  Because I wanted to work on my public speaking presence?  Doubtful.  So that I could meet a cute boy?  Uh, yes.  I took drama in order to meet Chris.  And I did.  And I married him.  And now I’m having his baby.  I’d say that’s a wrap.  Mission accomplished. One of the pleasant side effects of taking this drama class was getting to observe/obsess/ogle over Lara Casey.  Lara Casey was…

Where’s My Cookie????

Where’s My Cookie????

Its that most wonderful time of the year again.   Girl Scout Cookie season!   This is my favorite season.   Winter is wonderful.   Spring is spectacular.   But Girl Scout Cookie season is glorious.   Its no coincidence to me that they come around the Easter season because they are the epitome of God’s graciousness.   Tag-a-longs and Jesus. Every year I order at least 10 boxes.   At. Least. A lot of people go for the Thin Mints.   Those are pretty good.   But I’m partial…

The Second Trimester Wrap Up

The Second Trimester Wrap Up

This week begins the 27th week of my pregnancy and we all know that the 27th week is the last week of the second trimester.   (Full Disclosure:   I only know this because I Google’d it about 10 minutes ago…)   I can’t believe how fast time has gone – 6 whole months down.   But at the same time, I can’t believe how much time is left.   Every day seems to go slower and slower, but I’m okay with this because it is giving the Bean time…

That Sounds Like a Baby Crying

That Sounds Like a Baby Crying

Oh. My. Gosh. My friend, Lori, is exactly one week ahead of me in her pregnancy and she is a blogger, too.   (Although, I actually know her in person not just through Blog Land)   So, I read her blog, I Can Grow People, daily in order to know what to expect next week in my pregnancy. Today’s posting on Lori’s site made me cry.   At my desk at work.   Did you know that babies can cry in the womb?!?!?   I had no idea!   In…

Better Than the Boy Scouts

Better Than the Boy Scouts

To many people, good organizational skills are an important characteristic.   But in my family, its a disease.   It started with my mom.   She can make a travel itinerary like its nobody’s business.   Family vacations were structured and scheduled – from breakfast locations all the way down to which gift shops we would visit.   To some people, this sounds like a terrible way to take a vacation, but our family kind of liked it.   Whenever we visited anywhere, we were guaranteed to never miss a…

My Spirit is Weak

My Spirit is Weak

A few weeks ago, I shared about my personal financial crisis.   Ever since then, I have immersed myself in financial advice – Dave Ramsey (which is the program we are actually following), Suze Orman (at the suggestion of a reader of this humble blog), my parents (who are smarter with money than anyone I know – professional or otherwise), the girl at my hair salon (whose suggestion was to spend more to revitalize the economy – somebody needs to give that girl a book deal). I have spent more…
