I’ll Miss This One Day

I’ll Miss This One Day

This past Saturday afternoon, we were all in the kitchen having lunch.  We had a baseball game to get to, and Chris and I were hurrying around trying to get ready to go and the kids were goofing around while they ate. And I thought to myself in the middle of the shuffle, “I’ll miss this one day.” I’ll miss the normalcy of intense Pokemon discussions and negotiations over how many carrots have to be eaten. I’ll miss the countless, half-dressed baby dolls that I have to share meals with…

Adventure, Exploring, Laughing, and Growing

Adventure, Exploring, Laughing, and Growing

One of the things I did in the past year without blogging was to plug into my kids activities more.  One of those was getting involved in Cub Scouts with Bean.  He was a Tiger Scout this past year, and we have loved every single minute of it. One of my favorite things about Cub Scouts is how family-oriented it is.  Our whole family participates, even Gracie, and that not only makes it Bean’s extra curricular activity, but really a family commitment. Chris and I are the den leaders of Bean’s…

My Blooming Husband

My Blooming Husband

Last week, Chris was in tech rehearsals almost every night, which means he didn’t get home until about 11:00.  And I was fighting a cold, so I was going to bed when the kids did around 8:00 every night.  Chris and I basically saw each other over breakfast in the mornings, and that was about it. (Have I mentioned how much I hate tech weeks?) On Thursday night, I was finally feeling a little better, so I stayed up late to see him when he got home.  We sat in the…

Hello again, imaginary friends! I missed you so while I was away, but I did enjoy a much needed break from my blogging grind stone.  I have been soaking up time away from work and responsibilities and just focusing on playing with my kids, spending time with my sweet hubby, and hanging with my family.  It has been refreshing and renewing for my mind, body, and soul, let me tell you. I’ll post about what shenanigans were had over our Christmas break soon, but the New Year has been on…

Weekend Warriors

Weekend Warriors

This weekend was packed FULL of excitement for our family.  I’m starting to notice a pleasant trend in that regard, actually.  Of course, we had round two of Gracie’s ballet lessons.  This time, her best fwend, Sara (who Gracie has started to call, “My wittle Sara” for some unknown reason…), was there with her.  They were like two little pink peas in a pod. Here they are marching, best fwends do, of course: Please watch Gracie’s little arms. I die. After her lesson, we boogied on over to the soccer…

Small Moments, Big Love

Small Moments, Big Love

There hasn’t really been much blog-worthy stuff happening on the home-front lately.  Life has just kind of been creeping along.  And, I have to say, I kind of love that.  Last year, I remember we over-committed ourselves during this time of year.  This year, though, we had a conscious effort to keep the first few weeks of school kind of low key, and it has been wonderful.  We have truly gotten to focus on the few things we wanted to focus on.  Such as… Bean started playing soccer last week….

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

First of all, let me thank you for the outpouring of support yesterday!  You all made me feel much better and gave me some confidence about stepping up for my kids.  In answer to a lot of your comments, I received an email last night from the principal thanking me profusely for my email and asking for a description of the staff member so that the incident would not be repeated with other children.  I am really glad Bean is attending this school and I know that this is not…

All Good Things Come to an End

All Good Things Come to an End

Last week was my first week back at school.  Boooooooo!!!!!!  Hisssssssssss!!!!!  Students don’t come back to school until August 18, but we had to go back early for a two week training and then our regular pre-planning the week of August 11.  It’s just no fair, I tell you! I spent all last week teaching other teachers about digital technology in the classroom.  My master’s degree was in Educational Leadership and my focus area was in technology in education, so digital curriculum is a passion of mine.  I’ve been lucky…

If You Give a Teacher a Summer Vacation…

If You Give a Teacher a Summer Vacation…

Last Friday, I had to go to the grocery store. Simple enough task, right? We had a ton of food leftover from the Fourth of July, and our family had been eating hot dogs and pasta salad all week long. We were in need of substance. And milk. I figured while we were out, we should go by this awesome camera store in downtown Orlando that I had been meaning to visit. Colonial Photo and Hobby has been an Orlando staple since God was a boy, I’m sure. And I’m…

Sideline Momma

Sideline Momma

Last week, I took the kids to the Downtown Disney splash pad. It’s one of our favorite summertime places. We went early in the morning (before 9:30) to avoid the summer Disney traffic. But since it was the week after Fourth of July, the crowds were a little slimmer. That’s actually a good insider tip for Disney. Plan your vacations the week AFTER a holiday. Most people come during the holiday week, so the lines are a lot shorter in the parks the following week. I’m still trying to learn…
