ClassMax Update

We are one week away from launching ClassMax, a web-based data tracker and classroom management tool for teachers.  Over the past six months, we have worked primarily with freelance web developers who we hire by the week and pay by the hour.  They have done a fantastic job of taking ClassMax from a drawing I scratched in a notebook to a functioning tool that I can use in my classroom. Over the past month, as we have gotten closer and closer to launching, we have begun to solidify a core…

I’ll Bloom Soon, Dammit.

We all survived our first week of school!  The kids LOVE their teachers, which is really great to hear.  They come home every day bursting to tell us about things that happened in their classrooms.  The first ten minutes I pick them up from aftercare is so chaotic because they talk right over each other telling me all about school.  That is a huge blessing for any parent – to know that your kids are happy all day.  Can I get an “Amen” for all those elementary teachers out there…

Happy Belated to My Grumpy Beloved

We celebrated this hunk’s birthday this past weekend and it only proved my scientific theory that men do get better looking as they get older and that’s why women are moody. *eye roll* We took Chris bowling all afternoon because it was raining and because he is a closet bowler. He loves to bowl – always has. And he’s cute while he does it, so I don’t usually mind. I was kind of bummed because I’m not a GREAT bowler. Actually, I’m really, really awful. And this time, I was…

A Different Kind of Summer

In the first few weeks of summer, I quickly realized that this summer would be… different.  For one thing, Bean and Gracie are starting to separate themselves from each other in some ways.  Not that they don’t still play together all the time or not get along anymore; they are still best buddies and, thankfully, get along really well.  But their ages and genders have just now started to separate them a little bit.  For example, I signed them both up for gymnastics camp for a week because they have…

Piss Off, Sweetheart

So, I wrote about how Sunday was awesome and I was feeling so much better.  But then Monday happened and I thought I was dying again.  Oy.  I’ve been sick with a cold and fever all week and just feeling crappy.  Luckily, I think the worst is really behind me this time and today has been pretty good.  Let’s hope it’s really gone this time! In other news, guess what I did last week…  I stood up for myself. That’s right.  Someone was crappy to me and I actually did…

It is Well With My Soul

This morning, I packed lunch and a quick beach bag, threw some beach chairs in the back of the Quest Love, and the kids and I headed to the beach.  I have been counting the days since last summer ended before I could get back to the beach again, and I was beside myself with excitement.  I love beach days! Growing up on the beach, you’d think that was just ingrained in me, but that’s not really true.  I wasn’t a huge beach fan when I was younger.  I loved…

Long Tirades of Protest

I simply abhor politics.  The whole shebang.  Politicians, political conversations, political headlines, etc. all make me roll my eyes and shop online.  Which is so odd because all through college, I kind of wanted to go into politics.  I thought I’d get a law degree and maybe someday would use that to kickstart a political career of some kind.  Hell, I even had an office at the Florida state Capital for a bit!  But that was ages ago, and, thankfully, life has taken me a safe distance away from that…

Un-Leadership

I am a leader.  I say that not in a bragging way, but in a very matter-of-fact way.  The way some people might say, “I’m shy,” or “I’m dramatic.”  I am a leader.  Leadership has come naturally to me since I was in high school.  And while I am sure that is seen as a positive character trait by most people, those who have a leadership capacity know that it is both a blessing and a curse to be the frontman.  When I’m sitting in a meeting or a group of…

Hashtag Squad Goals

My summer is quickly drawing to a close and I can feel it slipping away!  NOOOOOOO!!!!!  I have been back to work this week to work on getting the new year planned and on getting my classroom ready.  I’ll post pictures when it is finished.  It’s been nice to be back, but after two months of wearing pajamas and reading books all day, it’s exhausting to be productive for hours at a time! It has required happy hours with my sweetheart to help me survive. Last weekend, in one last…

The Master’s Plan

I have very few regrets in my life.  Very, very few.  I believe that mistakes and missed opportunities in our pasts help shape and guide us into our futures.  Regrets are just part of the plan.  But my one regret for the past ten years has been my Masters degree. My big plan in life was to go to law school.  Chris and I had planned that when we graduated from undergrad and were married, we would move to wherever I was accepted to law school.  And then, about four…
