Etsy Day: Sassy Glass Studio
A month ago, I invited any MC reader with an Etsy shop to send me their shop information so that I could start profiling artists every few weeks on my blog. I was totally unprepared for all the emails I got! I had no idea I had such creative readers out there! I had a really tough time picking my first Etsy Day artist to profile but, in the end, I kept going back to this one beautiful glass bowl I saw when I was first looking through everyone’s shops.
And so my first Etsy artist had to be Sassy Glass Studio.
The artist behind Sassy Glass is this lovely lady, Miss Lisa Mueller. Doesn’t she just look an artist? Like she’s one of those people who automatically know how to arrange flowers in a vase and whose handwriting looks like a cool font in Word. I love people like that.
Just as her cool, hip presence would suggest, Lisa’s glass blowing shop is a brightly-colored studio in this hills of East Tennessee. She uses her background as a photographer as she creates her pieces of fused glass. Her glass is purposefully selected, carefully cut, shaped, assembled, and properly annealed in the kiln that she took from her sister-in-law three years ago. Gotta love a family business.
Lisa’s shop is the kind that I could get lost in for hours. In fact, that happened tonight. I was picking out my favorite pieces to include in this profile and I ended up with 15 PIECES in my desktop folder. I scaled it back to my top five favorites.
I’ve already shown you my absolute favorite above – that yellow flower bowl. Oh, it just makes me happy. But she also has it in blue. It is the same, but so very different.
And I love this little jewelry dish. The color blue is just gorgeous. It looks just like the Gulf Coast where I grew up. Kind of makes me want to slap some cheese grits on that dainty little dish.
And I ADORE this little sushi plate. Not just because I love sushi, but because – look at it! I mean, how beautiful is that glass work? Look how intricate and how imperfectly perfect it is. I just NEED that blue hammock in my life.
And my final favorite is this adorable nightlight. Lisa makes a collection of nightlights and I think they are all so beautiful. I have a thing for nightlights and these just make me want to wake up in the middle of the night and go to the bathroom. She has several different styles in her collection, but this one is my favorite. I would redecorate my bathroom around this nightlight.
I am so happy that I got the chance to see Lisa’s shop and to get to know her through her art. And I am even happier that Lisa has so generously volunteered to giveaway one of her nightlights to a lucky MC reader today.
Here’s the catch: This giveaway is part of the Fabulous Friday Facebook Giveaway series and you must be part of the MC Facebook fan group in order to enter to win. To enter this giveaway, you’re going to have to jump through a few little hoops. I think its the least we can do to show our appreciation for Lisa’s artistry and her willingness to give away her craft to us, don’t you? Okay, glad we’re all on the same page. To be entered to win, you must do the following:
1. Visit Lisa’s shop on Etsy – The Sassy Glass Studio – and choose which nightlight from her collection you would want if you win.
3. Go to the Marriage Confessions Fan Page and leave the link to the nightlight you chose as a comment under my announcement of this giveaway.
I hope while you’re over at Lisa’s shop you’ll take a look around. I mean, wedding season is upon us and I know some of you out there are looking for the perfect wedding gift for your best friend and I can pretty much guarantee you’ll find that gift in Lisa’s shop.
Thanks again to Lisa for sharing her shop and her art with us.
YOU KICK GLASS, LISA!

Can’t decide if my favorite part of this post is the unbelievably gorgeous glass bowls, or the phrase “you kick glass” – such a difficult decision.

I had fun meeting her at a booth set up on Market Square, and seeing her work in person is amazing. She’s very cool, and I look forward to seeing more of her work. Now, if I could only get my chores done so I can hit her studio tour…
