Snapshots

A couple weeks ago, my BFF, the Pioneer Woman, did a blog post about one of her favorite iPhone apps. Instagram is like Twitter, but you’re sharing pictures instead of status updates. Because it was free and I was bored, I downloaded Instagram to see what all the fuss was about.

And now I am addicted.

I post pictures all day, every day showing little glimpses of what we are doing. For example, yesterday Bean and I played outside in the pool almost all day long. We played with the water hose and the water table. And we even ate lunch outside.

When Chris got home from work, I had just emptied out our Easter baskets and was getting ready to pack them away until next year. Unfortunately, Chris and Bean got to them before I could put them in the storage bin. They wore baskets on their heads until bedtime.

I love Instagram because it, literally, shows snapshots of people’s days.

Some snapshots are pretty self explanatory.

And some have a bigger story behind them. Like this picture. We saw this car as we were out running errands last weekend and Chris and I then spent the entire rest of the afternoon speculating what this guy did that was so awful he had to write this on his car. We finally agreed that he must have forgotten their anniversary.

Then there’s this picture. It’s sidewalk chalk. Bean and I sat out on the back porch one morning and drew shapes for an hour. Then he stood up and said, “No school, mommy.” Guess I got a little carried away with blue triangles and green circles.

I took this next picture last week. It was almost 90 degrees and beautiful outside, but it was still a little chilly to get in the pool yet. I almost froze my red toes off.

Regardless of what the picture tells or doesn’t tell, I’m just a nosy person. I like to see what other people are doing. Even if it’s unimportant and insignificant. And I’ve loved getting to know blog readers through their everyday snapshots on Instagram.
