There’s nothing I can say to ease the heaviness in your heart but please know that I’m thinking of you and your family as well and sending love to all of you. xxxxxxxx
As someone who lost her father a few years ago your posts remind me of a lot of what I went through. And I’m not going to say that it gets better, because it doesn’t get better. But it does change and get different. It changes to where your default is to celebrate the time that he had versus to feel the loss for the time that you don’t have. It changes to where you can feel his love and instead of crying because that love is gone, you’ll cry because you can still feel that love inside of you. It changes to where you can start to do things in memory of him not just so you don’t lose your memories of him.
Will you still cry? YES. Will there still be days that it hurts. ABSOLUTELY. (usually around birthdays and holidays, sorry yours come in a double whammy). But there will also be days that you laugh because you know that he wouldn’t want it any other way.
Katie, I’m so sorry that you and your family are going through this right now. I just wanted to share something I saw on reddit that made me think of you…this guy’s sister-in-law had teddy bears made from their late father’s old shirts. I think it’s a lovely idea to have something like that to be able to hold on to and it made me think of your family. http://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/15fxyi/sisterinlaw_won_christmas_this_year_she_had/

Breathe in. Breath out. Take the day in 30 minute increments and focus on the kids. You can do it. Praying.
