I’m a Godmother!
This past weekend we packed the kids up on Friday after work and headed to Atlanta. That’s right. A seven hour drive after work with two wee ones. What in the world could make us do something so insane?
THIS GUY!
My sweet little nephew, Tillman, was baptized this weekend. The little booger boo looked so handsome in his gorgeous baptismal gown. Can you see it in this picture? It is really simple with a cross embroidered on the front and a tiny bit of detail in the trim. I thought it was beautiful.
Speaking of beautiful, check out my sister’s church. It is amazing! I love going to visit there. I don’t participate in the service at all, though, because I spend the whole time gazing around with my mouth hanging open.
There was a lot of family around at the service. John Michael’s parents were there (that’s his mom on the left and his dad and stepmom on the right…).
And our family was there, too. (My aunt, uncle, cousins and Grandma were there, but we didn’t get any pictures of them!)
The best part of the day (you know, other than the whole baby joining the church family thing…) was that Chris and I were named the Godparents. I’ve never been a Godmother before. Chris is super excited about being the Godfather, of course.
(Also, please ignore that my face is the size of the moon in this picture. Thank you.)
If you ask my kids, though, they’ll say the best part of the weekend was not the wedding shower for my cousin, Abby, which was super fun (even though I was in charge of games and messed up the only game I had planned so that everyone sat there trying to tell figure out what the heck was going on…). They won’t even say it’s the fact that there was a cake on Saturday at the wedding shower and then a WHOLE NEW DIFFERENT CAKE the VERY NEXT DAY for the baptism luncheon. They will undoubtedly tell you that the best part of the weekend was the stairway in my sister’s house. Was there anything in particular that was awesome or different about this stairway? Absolutely not. But it kept them entertained for hours.
To tell you the truth, we were kind of dreading such a long trip in such a short amount of time. The kids don’t have the best track record with traveling in short stints, but this was actually a really great trip! The kids slept in the car all the way up on Friday night, we had a lot of fun playing with our extended family on Saturday at my cousin, Abby’s, wedding shower, and then Sunday was such a special day for Baby Tillman. We all had a great time!

Our church does dedications rather than baptisms which is fine except I really love the tradition of godparents. Congratulations!

Gracie’s hair is SO LIGHT How did I just notice that? And I love the picture of them on the stairwell. They look like they are having SO MUCH FUN. Of course, congrats on being Godparents and Tillman is too cute for words.

Congratulations! Baby Tillman looked adorable in his gown! And yes it’s a gorgeous church! I’m glad the kids did well on the trip. I’m dreading our trip to NC in a few months. 10 hours in the car with the kids…pray for us! lol

What a lovely post! Though you all look great in the pictures, I just have to comment on how wonderful your mom looks because that is what jumped out at me. She has been through so much and I have marveled at her strength in the posts you’ve written since last summer, but in that photo above you can tell she is just radiating joy and happiness. What a strong lady, and a great example/inspiration for all of us .
