According to My 10 Month Old Son, I Am Boring

So, its official.

Bean thinks Chris and I are boring.

I know this because for the past couple weeks that he has been home with both of us during the day, he has been whiney and fussy.  And he periodically gives me looks that say, “I can’t believe you want me to play with a spoon, woman.  Do I look like I am amused?”

But the minute we get him out and about with people, the kid lights up like a firecracker on the 4th of July.

We are staying at Chris’ dad’s house this week during all of the wedding festivities.  His house is quiet and big enough for us to spread out without causing too much of a problem.  And its been good for Bean to have a home base where we come back to for naps and quiet time and bedtime.  I think it helps him stay on his routine a little easier.

The last time we came home to visit, Chris’ dad wasn’t doing too good.  He was having some problems with his health and it was tough to see him so down and clearly not himself.  But this trip has been so different.  He is back to himself and I can’t tell you how great it is to see him so happy and excited.

And before you ask, yes, that is a natural suntan.  The man lives outside.  He makes me look like a Q-tip.

Seeing Mickey become a Granddaddy has been such a treat for us.  And Bean seems to love it most of all.

I seriously thought Bean was going to just walk right on over to him.  He looked like he wanted to so badly.

He seemed to anxious to get away from me and Chris that he was willing to learn how to walk just to get a break from us.  I could see him saying to Mickey, “Come on, Granddaddy.  Let’s go do something fun without these two.  They won’t even let me have any peanut butter on my toast!”

But in the end, Bean didn’t walk after all because the only thing more entertaining than Granddaddys are big yellow trucks.

So, to summarize:

Granddaddys are more fun than parents.

Trucks are more fun than Granddaddys.

Noted.

Wow, Chris’ dad looks like he’s only 30 years old! And bean simply needs variety – I’m sure that after this week he’ll be all excited to get you two all to himself again. Until a week later, when he will again be bored of you. It’s the circle of life.

Chris’s dad looks way happy to have the Bean-man around! What a wonderful thing for the bean to have grandparents so close. I remember growing up in Florida and my grandparents lived next door to us -so whenever I got bored with mom and dad I just popped out the back door and went in search of the best chocolate chip cookies in the world – I knew they’d be found on the counter just inside the sliding door in my grandparents house!

These are 2 things which you probably already know, but I’m going to state them anyway.

    1. Chris looks like his dad
    2. Chris’s dad looks like such a Floridian! Dark skin, BLONDE hair, beer in a koozie 🙂 Awesome granddaddy smiles

    Chris looks like his dad!

Chris’ dad looks like a fun and happy guy! Can’t blame Bean. 🙂

And…I want half…just HALF his tan. I can’t tan anymore and it makes me sad…very sad.

I am also wondering if Q-Tip is just sick to death of us. My mom is here visiting right now and Q-Tip wants her more than she wants me I swear it! She even shared her colors at the restaurant today!! She never shares her colors with me!! Frankly…I’m not sure how to take it!

    🙂

LOL! I think I’m a boring mommy too! I swear when we’re at home, all of Aaron’s toys are boring. He loves the cat, hates his toys, and LOVES being at daycare or anywhere there are a lot of people. He is an ANGEL when I leave him with people.

Chris totally looks just like his dad.

Wow what a young looking Grandaddy! He looks like he would be a lot of fun too 🙂 My son also thinks were pretty boring parents too – my son gets excited when someone rings the door bell and greets them like his long lost best friend (usually just the postman or someone like that!)

  • Nate's Mom

Nate’s the same way – except that Mommy’s boring and Daddy’s super fun! When Chad comes home from work, Nate kicks his legs with joy and laughs and plays peek. With me? I get commentary about how boring I am…. Honestly, Nate. Honestly! Don’t you know who feeds you, gives your baths, and rescues you from poopie diapers?

I love the first picture, the expression on Beans face.. followed by the open arms.. it says a thousand words . its just amazing.. i love it!

I wanted to say how much Chris looks like his dad, but it has been said here. Then I wanted to make a clever comment on granddads and trucks, but everyone already said clever things.

So I really have nothing to say about this post. 🙂
