My Crazy, Wild Weekend Alone
This past weekend was gonna be crazy. It was gonna be awesome. I had Friday off of school for a holiday and so I kicked my entire family out of the house. I sent Bean to my parent’s and Chris headed back to our hometown for a music festival on the beach. Was I jealous that both of them had fun weekends planned? Not in the least. I had big plans of my own. Big plans involving long, leisurely, uninterrupted naps. Big plans involving dinner with girlfriends and movie dates. Big plans involving pedicures and going to bed at 8:00pm.
And then all that went to crap when I woke up Friday morning with a stuffy nose. Which quickly progressed to a runny nose. Then a runny nose with a sore throat. By Friday night, I had a terrible head cold. It actually probably wasn’t that bad of a cold, but when you’re pregnant and you can’t take too many medications to kick a quick little cold, that quick little cold becomes Death.
As I sat on my couch all weekend blowing my nose and coughing up a lung, I kept getting calls from Chris and Bean. They were having awesome weekends.
Bean had a fantastic weekend. He hung out with my parents and from the pictures they took, I think they pretty much just laughed all weekend long.
They laughed while they played on my parent’s bed.
They laughed while they took long, messy baths. (Nana lets Bean splash as much as he wants.)
They laughed while they made and then ate chocolate cupcakes.
But mostly they laughed when they went to Disney World on Sunday. You know. A trip to Disney. Just cause.
Bean has a tough life here in Florida.
And Chris kept checking in from the music festival that some of our friends from back home put on.
DeLuna Fest was a huge hit and we were so proud of our buddies who funded, planned, organized, and put on this fantastic weekend.
Chris helped with some of the production elements and so he proudly sported his “Staff” badge for the weekend and enjoyed royal VIP treatment under big tents with free food and booze.
But more than that, I think he just enjoyed spending some time with his Dad and sister. It was the first time in years that just the three of them have spent that much time together and I think they had a blast.
Chris is actually going to do a Man Cave post on the entire weekend later today, so look for that to hear all about the behind the scenes action from a music festival.
So, apparently, everyone had a better weekend than me. But I’m still glad we all went our separate ways. It’s good for us to spend time doing other things with other people. Makes the homecoming part so much better.
And now, I have to go. My nose is running and I must go catch it.
Man, I crack myself up…

I can never get over how you always get sick when you have time for it. Great and unfair at the same time. Glad you all had wonderful weekends!

Bean looks like he had a blast! What a cute, happy little guy! Sorry you are feeling rotten. Hopefully the head cold will cease and desist shortly.

Looks like Bean got some good spoiling time in with the grandparents! And of course, he had to go to Disney…what better way to spend a weekend?

Ah! Feel better!!!!!!! Bean and Chris look like they had a blast. I hope you were able to at least take lots of naps when you’re sick

Well, if you had to be sick, at least you had peace and quiet to do it. It would have been a huge bummer to be sick AND do the single parent thing.
Iis it just me or does Chris’s dad look like George Hamilton?

Hope you’re feeling better! Your weekend sounds like mine…I had a cold that turned into a bad ear infection….but I can take meds since I’m not preggo so they are slowly but surely kicking in. Also love your new blog design! I haven’t commented since you got it up – but I love how its easier to navigate and very polished looking. Thanks!

Oh my goodness, isn’t having a cold while pregnant the worst?! I was so miserable and all I could do was use Tylenol to try and help my headache. Why does it feel so much worse?

Congrats for your pregnancy, my sister is only 14 months younger than me, and it is cool because you have a friend forever, I know that Bean will be happy being the big boy and the older brother… Kisses from Lima!
