Live. Laugh. Love. And Eat. Repeat.
Another fantastic fall weekend has come and gone and I, for one, am sad to see it end. We have been having some awesome weekends lately and this one was no exception. It started Friday night when our friends, Sarah and Scott, came over for an impromptu dinner. We sat on the back deck and ate chili in sweaters. It was very fall. I even lit a cinnamon scented candle.
My sister and her husband, John Michael, came into town late Friday night, just as Scott and Sarah were leaving. Ginny was in a wedding here this weekend and so they were staying with us. It was so good to see them, even if they were super busy with wedding festivities. Just knowing they were here gave me warm fuzzies.
In the first ten minutes of being in our new house, Ginny managed to sniff out Gracie’s Halloween costume. She’s a sucker for costumes.
Saturday while my sister was performing her bridesmaid duties, Chris played golf with John Michael and some of the other lost bridesmaids spouses and so I called Sarah and we spent the day at the outlet malls with the kids. It was an impromptu trip, but completely necessary.
Seriously.
Stop laughing.
It was absolutely NECESSARY that I go shopping. Bean’s skinny legs were hanging out of all his pajamas and Gracie didn’t have hardly any cool weather clothes. And I had absolutely nothing in my wardrobe that was camel colored with sparkles. But don’t worry. I do now.
Gracie hung in there all day like a champ. She chewed on my key ring, tried to catch her toes, and threw burp cloths out of her stroller all day long. She had a great time.
Bean had a great day, too. He was in a good mood and had no meltdowns (except for that one in Carter’s, but he was up under a clothing rack and no one could see him, so I don’t think that one counts…). But we definitely wore Bean out. Gracie is her momma’s girl. She can shop til she drops. But Beaner needed a little break. That’s okay though.
Ain’t no shame, Bean Man. Bigger men than you have fallen asleep while shopping.
Late Saturday afternoon after we were done shopping and Chris was home from golfing, Chris and I packed the kids up and took them to my parents. My sister and JM were going to go there after the wedding that night and we were all going to have Saturday night and Sunday morning together before Gin and JM had to head back to Atlanta.
Bean was super excited because my parents got bunk beds in their guest bedroom. It’s a really great idea for a space saver, actually. They got one of those beds with the double bed on the bottom and the twin bed on top. That way, we can all sleep in the same room. Gracie slept in her pack ‘n play, Bean slept on the top bunk (there was a big railing on his bed), and Chris and I slept below him in the double bed. We fit nice and cozy-like.
The next morning, my Grandma came over to join the fun and we had a nice, relaxed pancake breakfast while we all caught up with each other.
By the time we got home Sunday afternoon, Chris and I were worn out. We had just enough time to catch a little nap before our next last exciting adventure of the weekend…
Late Sunday afternoon, we met our lovely friend, Jenn Hopkins, who did another round of family portraits for us. I’ll tell you all about them tomorrow, but they were beautiful!
All in all, it was a really great weekend. The perfect start to a great week!

Don’t let Bean wear Superhero jammies at Gramma’s house!! 🙂 They like to practice flying!

I know exactly what you mean! Brad and I are EXHAUSTED after this weekend, but I am so sad to see it end. I love weekends where your heart is just full to the brim at the end of them…. On a completely different note, can we get a picture of that caramel colored sparkly piece you bought? That sounds like fun

Sounds like the perfect weekend. The outlet mall in Orlando is pretty awesome. It’s the reason we had to buy another bag to get home.

Ohmygosh I can’t wait to see Gracie in that halloween costume! Looks like a pretty great weekend.

You’re right. There really isn’t anything better than fall weekends. They are for church, family, football, food, coziness and warmth. Ah. Love fall!

Gracie looks so excited and cute while shopping 🙂 Can’t wait to see the new family portraits!

What a fun weekend; it’s great to catch up with close friends and family. I’m afraid Ginny is going to have to trade JM in for a newer model. That orange and blue is so banal. She should go for a model of crimson and white with houndstooth trim. Now that’s classy! 😉 P.S. I can’t wait to see the new family photos!

Oh gosh, I can’t wait for the photos! 🙂 Your weekend sounds awesome! The kids are adorable, and it’s so great to see what wonderful quality time you all are having together as a family.

I love little boys that sleep through shopping trips. It really helps mom find the best stuff. 😉

But where are the photos of something pretty in camel and sparkles?! Can’t wait to see the family photos as Jenn always does an amazing job. Just wish she lived closer to ATL!

What an amazing weekend! I love weekends with family when you can just be yourself. And impromptu shopping trips. Those are indeed a must.

I love weekends like those! And I agree…impromptu shopping trips are very important. And extremely necessary.

Ok, this may sound random – but I LOVE your sister’s haircut!!! I am thinking of cutting my hair but I know I could never do enough to it every day to keep it looking that cute. Anyhow, please compliment your sister’s awesome taste in hair for me 🙂

Some of the funniest hair is “day after wedding hair.” Ginny rocks it, of course. 😉

What a fun weekend! I’m in complete agreement – outlet centers are needs, not wants. Also, I’m intrigued — what is it that is camel colored and sparkly?!?!
Waiting for Bulgaria
We’ve had a lot of those fun weekends lately. I cherish them because my son is growing up so fast, and there will come a day when his fun weekends consist more of friends than mom and dad.
