8 Years, 38 Reasons
38 Reasons I love my husband…
1. Whenever he sees me trying to take the trash out, he stops and takes it from me so I don’t have to carry it outside.
2. He cleans my car, gets the oil changed, and fills it with gas whenever it needs any of those things, and I’ve never asked him to do any of those things once. He just does them.
3. He rubs my feet every night when we watch TV together.
4. He loves being at home with me and the kids more than any place else.
5. He texts me from the golf course to tell me how much he misses my dad.
6. He knows more about music than anyone I know.
7. He never complains about getting up early to go to church on Sundays.
8. When we share dessert, he always lets me have more than my half.
9. He does the deep cleaning in our house because I’m bad at it, but I never ask him to. He just does it every couple weeks or so.
10. He kisses me or squeezes my hand whenever he passes by, no matter where we are.
11. He painted our house underneath the new deck, where no one will ever see. Why I made fun of him and said that no one would ever know, he smiled and said, “But I will know.”
12. He always does bath time and bedtime with us as a family.
13. He offers to keep the kids while I go grocery shopping.
14. He doesn’t say it often, but every now and then he will quietly say to me out of the blue, “You’re looking good, momma.”
15. He lets me drive when we ride together.
16. He thinks I am brilliant.
17. He has the best, most genuine laugh. He doesn’t gut-bust laugh often, but when he does, it is pretty great.
18. His sense of humor is the perfect blend of sarcasm and wit.
19. He tells me several times every day that he loves me.
20. He brings the mail in every day and lays my mail in a little pile next to my purse for me.
21. He thinks I should wear a bikini, bless his heart.
22. He told Bean the most important rule in our house is to be nice to mom.
23. He backs me up when I discipline the kids.
24. He isn’t the disciplinarian. He’s a big pile of mush for both our kids.
25. He stays home with the kids on nights when I have meetings.
26. He fluffs my pillow for me.
27. He thinks our kids are hysterical.
28. He loves my family.
29. In the months after my dad died, he called my mom every couple days all on his own to check on her. Usually, I didn’t even know they’d spoken until she’d mention it to me.
30. When he is sick, he sits on my lap and smothers me until I rub his back and fawn all over him.
31. He can quote every word to “The Goonies,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” and all of the “Back to the Future” movies.
32. He looks good in a watch.
33. He can build just about anything.
34. He gives me control of the remote (unless hockey is on).
35. He makes unsweet tea for us to drink because he knows I love it, even though he would rather drink sweet tea.
36. He brings home random stuff when I send him to the grocery store.
37. There’s only one thing he loves more than our kids…
38. …and that’s me.
Happy 8th anniversary to the man who has given me everything I could have ever wanted, and then some.
I love you, Pookey.
