Busy Weekend, Happy Family

This weekend was packed full of all different kinds of fun.  I love weekends like that.  I’ve been having a rough start to my school year for the past two weeks, so my weekends have been just the right kind of fun and relaxation that I’ve needed.  Friday night, we headed to downtown Windermere for dinner at the food trucks.  This is just half of the food trucks that were there. I had korean BBQ and Chris and the kids had Philly cheesesteaks. Everything was delicious!

We have heard about how fun this is, but haven’t had the chance to go yet.  I’m so sorry we’ve missed it because it was so fun!  We met up with some friends, sat around in camping chairs, and stuffed our faces while our kids ran crazy.  It had rained just an hour or so before, so it was a little soggy, but that didn’t damper our fun one bit.  It was the perfect start to the weekend.

On Saturday morning, we had tickets to the Kids and Family Expo at the Orlando Convention Center. Big thumbs down for this event. You had to pay to get in ($20 a ticket) and so we assumed everything inside the convention would be free to use. Mostly, we made the assumption because the website and event information didn’t tell you any different. But when we got there, you ended up having to pay to do anything.

Gracie was super excited about the petting zoo, but when we got there, you couldn’t even pet the animals! They were just standing in a pen and you could look at them. LAME.

And since we’d already told the kids about the bounce houses and fun events, we couldn’t suddenly tell them they couldn’t do anything. Plus, it cost $15 to park at the convention center. So, total, we paid almost $100 for two hours of lame entertainment. Boo. But, Bean did get to hold an alligator, so that’s cool, right?

He also went inside this giant inflatable ball. I thought he might get sick because he is prone to motion sickness, but he had a blast! He looked tiny inside that ball, though! I kept yelling at Chris, “COVER THE HOLE! HE’S GOING TO FALL OUT!” Both Bean and Chris rolled their eyes at me and then rolled away in the giant ball.

Also, is this not the funniest picture ever of Gracie? I can’t stop laughing at it!

Saturday in the late afternoon, Chris and I hosted our first ever draft party for fantasy football! This year, we started our own league of people around our neighborhood and community. Some of the teams are couples and some of the couples are playing individually. Chris and I always play separately so that he can beat me and feel better about his superior football strategy skills. BUT THAT CHANGES THIS YEAR, MY FRIENDS! I WILL REIGN!

We had a great set up. In a fantasy draft, everyone needs their own electronic device so they can access the fantasy website. We set up tables in our game room and everyone piled in and around the room. It looks like behind the scenes of ESPN with everyone researching players and drafting. It was pretty funny. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures other than this one because I was too busy drafting my team. Oops. Bad blogger.

Sunday morning, we went to my mom’s to see my sister, niece, and nephew. Ginny is in town for a few days for work, so she brought the kiddos with her. But, again, we were having too much fun catching up and I didn’t take any pictures.

Next week, our extra-curricular activities begin and I start my last round of classes for my ESOL endorsement (whooooo hooooo!). Our schedules are going to pick up and life will become hectic and busy, once again. So for now, I’m soaking up these weekends of fun, family, and friends. The laundry will just have to wait.
