Last night we were sitting on the couch, recovering from our day at the doctor’s office.  We weren’t saying much.  Just curled up on the couch together.  All of a sudden, Chris leans down to my belly and starts to sing softly to the Bean:

“Turn around – every now and then I get a little bit lonely and you’re never coming round.

Turn around – every now and then I get a little bit tired of listening to the sound of my tears.

Turn around – every now and then I get a little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by.

(This is when he gets really loud)

Turn around BRIGHT EYES!  Every now and then I fall apart!

Turn around BRIGHT EYES!  Every now and then I fall apart!

(Even louder now)

AND I NEED YOU NOW TONIGHT!

AND I NEED YOU MORE THAN EVER!

AND IF YOU’RE ONLY HOLD ME TIGHT!

WE’LL BE HOLDING ON FOREVER!

AND WE’LL ONLY BE MAKING IT RIGHT

CAUSE WE’LL NEVER BE WRONG TOGETHER!

(This is when he gets louder still and starts dancing a little)

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE IT TO THE END OF TIME!

YOU’RE LOVE IS LIKE A SHADOW ON ME ALL OF THE TIME!

(This is when he jumps up and starts dancing in the living room, hand on my belly)

I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO…(mumbles some words here)

NOTHING I CAN DO

TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEARRRRT!!!!”

In case you missed the 80’s (and I pity you if you did), that was Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the Heart.   If the baby does turn head-down, I’m submitting an article to any medical journal I can find on the power of 80’s love songs on fetal positioning.
