Guess What…

Guess What…

I’M GOING TO BE AN AUNT AGAIN!!!!!!!! Tillman is, obviously, very excited, too. My sister has not had an easy time getting pregnant with Tillman or with this pregnancy. To say our family is thankful and joyful for this baby would be such an understatement. We have prayed for this little one, and I can’t wait to meet him or her! We should know the gender officially in a few weeks, but let’s take a vote while we wait. I say it’ll be a GIRL! Leave a comment and vote!

The Day After a C-Section

The Day After a C-Section

“The Day After a C-Section” I had to have a c-section with Bean because he was breech and ginormous. Then, I had to have one again with Gracie because I’d had one with Bean so recently. I didn’t mind, really, except that there isn’t a whole lot of practical, useful information out there for c-section recovery that isn’t related to medical info. Your doctor will give you all kinds of recovery information for how to take care of yourself (none of which is pleasant, by the way…), but there are…

Hair of the Blog

Hair of the Blog

When I was in Atlanta with my sister a couple weekends ago, I did a series of videos with her on her fashion and style. Mostly it was about her hair. A lot of blog readers ask about Ginny’s gorgeous hair when they see pictures of her, so I figured we’d go right to the source and ask her to walk us through her hair routine. It wasn’t as complicated as I was expecting. Which frustrates me. I wish she’d said she used some rare, ultra-expensive product that made her…

My NEPHEW.S Nursery

My NEPHEW.S Nursery

I can’t believe that in just a few short (well, probably not for my sister) months, I’m going to be an AUNT! Aunt Katie. What a fun title to hold. Ginny took a minute to show me around my lil’ nephew’s nursery when I was in Atlanta a few weeks ago, and I thought I’d share… mostly because I’m sure you all are tired of hearing about my two yahoos. I figure hearing about a different yahoo would spice things up a bit. Plus, I love my sister’s new house,…

How to Sleep When the Baby Sleeps

How to Sleep When the Baby Sleeps

Late in my pregnancy with Bean, the advice changed from how to survive my pregnancy to how to survive the first few months as a new mom. Without a doubt, the most frequent advice I heard was, “Sleep when the baby sleeps!” Hearing that before I had any children, it seemed a little silly. Of course I’d sleep when the baby slept! What else would I do? But within one day of having Bean finally in my arms, I realized how much there was to do! For one thing, I’d…

Review: Bud to Bloom

Review: Bud to Bloom

This past weekend while I was in Atlanta with my sister, I noticed a sticker on her front windshield that made me gasp, “That’s BRILLIANT!” I can’t count how many times during one of my pregnancies I’d come out to my car, only to find someone had parked so close to me that I couldn’t fit between the cars to get in! It’s embarrassing and frustrating and downright rude! Which begs the question, WHY HAS NO ONE DONE THIS SOONER?!?! As I was squealing and shrieking about the sticker in…

Tiny Miracles

Tiny Miracles

I know you all are wondering where my Costa Rica posts have been, and just as soon as I manage to pull myself out from under the 400 pounds of vacation laundry I’ll have those posts up. We had a wonderful trip and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. But first, some news on the baby front… Not MY baby front. It’s my sister’s! GINNY’S PREGNANT! I have been dying to tell people, but Ginny and John Michael were both very cautious this time. She’s 20 weeks…

How My Sister Gives Me Strength

How My Sister Gives Me Strength

On Friday, Chris, me and the kiddies will pack up and head to meet my parents, my sister, and her husband, John Michael, at the beach for a long weekend together. It’s been planned for months and I’ve really been looking forward to it. But now, as the weekend approaches, I have to tell you that I’m a little nervous about it. Actually, I’m not nervous about the weekend. For the first time in my whole life, I’m nervous about seeing my sister. Two weeks ago, my sister miscarried. She…

(SQUEAL!)

Ya’ll. Hold on to your baby booties. I have such good news! MY SISTER IS PREGNANT!!!!! And since we all know how much I like to focus on myself, the REAL news here is that I’M GOING TO BE AN AUNT!!!! I’m so excited and happy for her and John Michael. I can’t even contain myself. Seriously. Since she told me, I just keep walking around pretending like I’m nibbling baby toes. Num, num, num… I practice on Gracie. Since that’s the sound I impulsively make whenever I think about…

Grace and Bean

Grace and Bean

By the time my c-section was finished and we made it up to our room, it was close to midnight. My parents were still at the hospital with Bean, waiting so that he had a chance to meet Gracie. We finally got up to our room and Bean came in. I’m sure it was the hormones, but I started crying right away. I think it was relief. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for the time when we were all together and here it was. The first thing…
