Ginny, Ginny, Bo, Binny

Ahh…sisters.   As far as they go, you just don’t get much better than mine.

I’ve talked about her on my blog before, but let me tell you some things you may not already know.   Ginny has always been the pretty, fun, exciting sister.   Oh, don’t get me wrong.   I’m a hoot and a half.   But parties don’t start until Ginny gets there.   Hands down, she is the funniest person I know.   She’s just a peach.

Well, until her senior year of high school.   You see, in her senior year of high school she ripped my heart out of my chest, threw it on the ground, and danced on it.   Naturally, Ginny was the Prom Queen.   Or was it Homecoming Queen?   Either way, she was Queen of something.   And as if that wasn’t irritating enough, she took my first love to the dance with her.

Neil Tucker.   Ahh…Neil Tucker.   My love affair with Neil began when we were in 6th grade history together (or was it Science? or English?   Have I mentioned that I have a really bad memory?).   Anyway, Neil sat next to me and I fell in love with him.   Every day he borrowed paper from me and every day I blew kisses at him when he wasn’t looking.   We grew up, ran in different circles, Neil got even hotter, I met Chris, life moved on.   But Neil was still my first love.   (sigh)

My freshman year of college, my sister called me at school to tell me that she was on Prom Court (or was it Homecoming Court?) and that Neil was going to be her date.   Neil.   My Neil.

Heart.   Out of Chest.   On Ground.   Stomp.

Wait, what was I talking about?   Oh, right.   Ginny.   Not Neil Tucker.   (Neil, if you’re out there, call me.   Nevermind my husband.   Or my child.   Or the fact that I’ve put on about 2,000 pounds since high school.   I think there might still be a chance for us, Lover…)

Wait, what was I talking about?   Ginny.   Ginny.   Ginny.   Focus, Katie.

Here, Ginny models an alternative style for my Masters hood on my graduation morning. Way to work that higher education, Gin.

So, my sister has always had excellent taste.   Not only is she a fantastic dresser, but she’s recently chosen a studly fiance for herself, John Michael.

Now, she and JM are just about the preppiest peas in a pod you’ve ever met.   They golf.   They argyle.   They brunch.   They’re just the cutest and I can’t wait until JM is officially part of the family (although, he already has a Christmas stocking at my parent’s house and that’s about as official as you can get).

But then I got an email on Monday from Ginny titled, “NASCAR, Baby!”   And this picture was attached.

When I responded back to her email, I said to please, please tell me that it took some effort to look like this much of a redneck.   But Ginny said that no, it actually came pretty naturally to she and JM.

And then she told me about how they packed nine people into an RV for the weekend at some NASCAR race in Bristol.   I apologize to those of you who are NASCAR fans.   I don’t mean to butcher your sport.   I’m sure you are very nice race car watching people.   Just like my sister.   My preppy, Vera Bradley toting, pearl wearing sister that I once knew.

Now, I’m not so sure about my sister’s judgment anymore.   I mean, sure, she’s made some questionable decisions in her life…

But NASCAR racing takes the cake.

And it proves my point.

Ginny never deserved Neil Tucker.

Okay, you and your sister are just gorgeous! I’m not-so-secretly hoping this next baby is a girl because I desperately want my little girl to have a sister!! Looking at you and Ginny, my heart just melts because I know what an incredible bond the two of them could have (minus the whole Neil thing). What a blessing to have such a great sibling relationship!

“Ginny has always been the pretty…sister.” Don’t sell yourself short. I think you’re quite lovely. 🙂

As far as your preppy sister and her preppy fiance, I reckon they just prove that not all NASCAR fans are rednecks. Or, er, not all the time anyway.

My gosh, up to the NASCAR part, I wanted to trade lives with Ginny! I always wanted to be a prep, but in Arizona, argyle is so unpractical. It could have never worked. And now, it’s too late—I’m living in Canada with the reddest of redneck husbands, who thinks that argyles are those statues that came to life in a cartoon in the ’90s.

Anyway, there’s another thing you and I have in common: Both of us have the most amazing sisters. I love mine dearly. Love her little boy even (almost) more. I bet she feels the same about your little dude.

I have a sister who is two years younger then me and we hung around some of the same circles in high school, so I can definitely relate to this Neil Tucker situation.

About two years after high school, she brought home her new beau – one of my old best friends and a high school crush. Secretly I thought…this is never going to work. However, I was wrong. Just to spite me, they go married three years ago and are still going strong.

For the record, this only came to being AFTER I moved to the country!!! HAHAHA… also, I wore a cute sundress to the race on Friday night and I could overhear the men next to me saying it was obviously my first race. 🙂 As grandma always said, bloom where you’re planted!!

Sisters are wonderful. They are even better when they have daughters of their own that look up to you like the big sister you always wanted to be! I agree with the rest, you two are lovely Southern Belles!

John Michael looks like an older Ryan Reynolds.
    Lucky duck, that Ginny is.
But you have the Bean, and Chris. I still think you win 🙂

Ginny and I are good friends and I love when you post about her 🙂 Being the prep she is, the LAST place I would picture her and JM is at NASCAR and sadly I had to miss out on the event.. but the pictures are priceless and I definitely will not miss it next time!!

You’re both beautiful! I think your guys are very lucky. I tell people all the time that I couldn’t have pick a better daughter-in-law myself.

I just came to your blog from PW. Wow, I’m really wasting time today, when I think about it. I put in my year I graduated cuz I just know I’ll win that mixer, and I looked at a couple other comments and clicked on your link, and here I am. And then I saw how you want comments, so here you go! 🙂 You’re hilarious, girl! You’re blog is cute and I love that your sis dressed all NASCAR-like! I guess while in Rome, do as the Romans. I’ll bookmark your blog and check it again, but for now I’ve got to stop wasting time and go walk my dog (and my own body, too)!

So Ginny went out with your high school crush. Get this: My mom and aunt are identical twins. My aunt and her husband were sweethearts from Jr. High on. They had a couple spots here and there when they had broken up. During one of those times, my mom took him to the Sadie Hawkins dance!

So yeah, my mom once dated my uncle.

First visit here via PW’s site. Great blog! You and your sis are such pretty girls. When I saw the photo of her and her fiance all prepped up…loved it! They were cute as can be:) Then I saw the NASCAR shot…uh uh!!! I don’t do “red”- at all!!! Everyone has their pet peeves- and “red” is mine. Please tell Ginny that NASCAR does nothing for her;)
