The Grandmomma Has Landed
On Saturday evening, the Heavens opened up and dropped a Grandmomma on my front porch. Beanie was pretty excited.
So was I.
Chris’ mom, Jackie, and her boyfriend, Charles (which I like to pronounce “Chaahles…”), came to visit this weekend until Tuesday. We are spending Thanksgiving with my sister, so Jackie decided to come up to visit before we left town. I’m so glad, too! Because I used most of my sick/vacation/personal/I-don’t-wanna-go days off of work when Bean was born, I’m not take any extra time this week. Which means my family is gathered at my sister’s house without us until Wednesday. I was really bummed about this.
But then Grandmomma Jackie came to visit and that made it all better!
This morning, we all sat around in our pajamas and stared at Bean. It was awesome. I love that about Grandparents. No one wants to talk about their kids as much as parents do. Except Grandparents. All of Beanie’s grandparents would sit and stare at him for days and they probably couldn’t think of anything they’d rather be doing. Its pretty awesome.
Bean sat with Grandmomma Jackie and Chaahles on the couch for a while. Chaahles read Bean some newspaper articles online. AND he let Bean push buttons on the laptop. That’s four-stars worth of fun in Bean’s book.
After laying around, we decided it was probably a good idea to get dressed and venture into the great wide world, if for no other reason than to see Beanie in another setting. We went to lunch. We ate some chicken wings. We laughed as Beanie shrieked happily throughout the entire meal. We strolled through a cute little shop and picked out Christmas presents (…all for Bean, of course). It was a great day.
And then we came back home and Grandmomma Jackie got to spend some more time with Bean. Beanie thought this was a fantastic idea since Grandmomma Jackie had the bottle. Bean’s a fan of whoever is holding his bottle.
Formula-fed infants of fickle, fickle mini-beasts.
Tomorrow, Bean is staying home from daycare to spend the day with Grandmomma Jackie and Chaahles.
I am excited about this because Bean’s got a little cough and I’m hoping a couple days out of daycare might help him kick it.
Grandmomma Jackie is excited about this because she gets to snuggle all day long with Beanie.
Chaahles is excited about this because he is a secret baby-lover. I think its their smell. Good baby smells melt many mens hearts.
But mostly, Beanie is excited about this because he gets to spend some time with Grandmomma Jackie and Chaahles. And the word on the street is that grandparents are putty in grandkids hands. Bean figures this is a win-win situation for him.
Chris asked me last night as we climbed into bed how I thought Bean would do staying home tomorrow. I told him I thought Bean was going to be fine. It was Jackie and Chaahles I was worried about.
Being putty in Beanie’s hands is hard work…

Oh! Grandparents are a genuine life saver sometimes! It’s like four extra sets of hands. Amazing.

Chaahles and Beanie have quite similar do-s. And I totally was thinking the same thing Michelle said!

Oh, oh, oh–is that an Alison quilt that Bean and grandmomma are hanging out on?! Ours is just like that, but green (and super soft!)
Katie
YES! Aren’t they the best? Alison should start her own line of quilts!

YAY for grandparents!!! Glad you got to enjoy some time with the in-laws.
I bought Beanie a Christmas present this weekend! Got to get your address. It’s from your favorite place, Cracker Barrel!!! So I know you will like it. 😉

WOW. Are you sure that’s Chris’s mom?? She looks like his sister! I’m not kidding, not trying to be nice, not trying to butter her up (I’m not sure I have the need to do that, unless she likes sending other people’s grandbabies presents in the mail) 🙂
She might even be able to pass as his YOUNGER sister! Seriously!

Yeah!!!! I’m so excited to see pictures of Beanie on the quilt. I love that you are using it. Can you e-mail me a copy of the pic so I can put it in my quilt scrapbook?

Hooray for grandparents!! My mom is so desperate to get in some quality baby time that she booked a couple’s massage for hubby and me. I’m getting my hair done in the morning, compliments of Grandma and then we’re off to the spa and lunch, all while Grandma’s in charge of “the Princess.” Free babysitting AND massages?? Jackpot!!
