Well, This is New
Bean has a new trick. He thinks it’s the most fun thing in the whole world. Chris and I disagree.
I call it the Limp Noodle. Bean calls it Awesome.
Here’s how you play. Whenever your mom or dad takes your hand to lead you somewhere, you go limp as a noodle and fall down on the floor. Let’s practice:
It’s the end of the day and you are tired and so are your parents. They suggest that it might be bath time, so they take your hand and start to walk with you down the hall towards the bathroom.
LIMP NOODLE!
That was fun! Let’s do it again!
This time, you’re in the church playground in your clean, sweet, cute church clothes and after half an hour of playing nicely, Mom and Dad say, “Time to go!” and they take your hand to walk you out to the car.
LIMP NOODLE!
Or, let’s say now we’re at an arts festival with lots of people walking around and you’re cruising along next to your Mom and Dad and they take your hand to turn left and you decide to turn right.
LIMP NOODLE!
The only saving grace about Bean’s new game is that he doesn’t do it maliciously.
(Wow, 10 vocabulary points for me right there!)
He isn’t pitching a fit or being a stinker. In fact, he’s usually laughing hysterically when he does it. He just thinks this is the most fun new way to say, “Nah, I’d rather do something else.”
I think I’m going to start doing this throughout my day, too. What? Time to grade papers?
LIMP NOODLE!
What do you mean I have to pay bills?
LIMP NOODLE!
Change another dirty diaper?
LIMP NOODLE!
Bean might have a good little thing going here after all…

Wow, I love that you’ve finally given it a name! My son does this all the time 🙂

Hehehe so cute. I am totally using that when I need to clean.
Ashley
Can I do that right now and not go to work?
Lisa
Love the name you’ve given it! I’m going to do it today in protest of cleaning the house, and will LIMP NOODLE myself right onto the couch!
El
My son does the limp noodle too! Sometimes it’s funny, though we try not to laugh. But other times it can be sooo frustrating!
Beth
Oh yes, that is FUN! Ha ha ha. My absolute favorite children’s book is called Knuffle Bunny, about a girl who loses her lovey in a laundromat. Her father calls this “going boneless.”

Limp Noodle, I love it!

I would love to do this today instead of working! oh well!
he really is adorable =)

It’s really fun when your “toddler-aged” german shepherd does it, too. Fortunately, we’re past it, but trying to un-limp-noodle a 60-some pound dog was…interesting.

I’ve got class in five minutes! LIMP NOODLE! And when my professor tries to dock points for missing class I shall gladly tell him “Katie from the internet told me to do it!” lol
Kat @ Living Like the Kings
I am totally adapting Bean’s ways from now on.

LOL
He’s a doll. His hair is getting so thick! I’m lovin’ the Limp Noodle game!

i don’t think its just toddlers who do this. My husband seems to do this when i ask him to get up early and help me with something. May be some new medical condition
Lindsey
Random, but you just reminded me I need to pay our bills! THANK YOU!

Limp Noodle seems like a good strategy for me to avoid a dreaded meeting at work tomorrow…

Oh deary, Levi has the limp noodle thing down and has for quite a while. What I can’t understand is how I can NOT pick him up when he goes limp. He’s a slippery rubbery mess and I don’t think I could be that ungrabbable if I TRIED. How do they do the things they do? Smart little cookies.
Erin
That was hilarious! I cute use the Limp Noodle maneuver in my life…
