Tails.

Tails.

“Uhhh….Big Molly?” said Bean.  “Uhhh… There’s something hanging off of you back here…” “What the…??” said Bean. “Hey, uh, Molly?” said Bean.  “I mean, I don’t want to scare you or anything, but this thing is pretty big.  And hairy, too.” “Oh, that’s my tail,” said Big Molly. “What’s a tail?” asked Bean. “You know,” said Big Molly.  “Its that thing that chases you around and then sometimes you can chase it around and then you can catch it and then you can chew on it.  But that kind of…

Things That Get Us Through the Night

Things That Get Us Through the Night

We are into a really great routine with Bean at night lately.  For one thing, he is LOVING his baths.  Its the splashing.  He loves the splashing.  Specifically, he loves splashing me.  He has a turtle that floats in his tub and he bats at it until it sinks and/or drowns.  In the process, I have to change my clothes about three times.  Loads of fun. After bath time, we get ready for bed.  Chris puts on Bean’s jammies and brushes his little, spastic hairs while I get his bottle…

The Working Mom’s Guide to Homemade Baby Food

The Working Mom’s Guide to Homemade Baby Food

I’ve talked a lot before about what a hard time I had getting Bean Man to eat solid foods (here and here).  The first problem was that he wasn’t ready for a long time.  We tried at four months, again at five months, again at six months, and finally success at seven months.  The second problem was that Bean didn’t like jarred baby food.  He still doesn’t.  I don’t know if it is the texture or the taste, but personally I think it is that he didn’t like being fed. …

Tunnel of Love

Tunnel of Love

“Hey, Bean,” said Molly.  “What are you doing?” “I’m just sittin’ in my tunnel,” Bean said.  “Wanna come in here with me?” “I don’t think I can fit,” said Big Molly. “Sure you can!  Here, I’ll pull you in,” said Bean. “It won’t work,” said Molly.  “I’m too big!” “Well, then I’ll come out there and sit with you!” said Bean. “Oh, Bean,” said Big Molly.  “You’re the best!” “Thanks for offering to come out here with me, but why don’t you stay in your tunnel and play and I’ll…

Be Still My Heart

Be Still My Heart

This afternoon when we all got home from work and school, Chris and I spread out Bean’s big blanket on the floor and started helping him with the crawling. But Bean got tired and so he flopped over on his back.  Crawling is hard work, dude. And I was tired from working a full day.  So, I flopped down with him. Luckily, Chris was on hand to make us giggle, so we rolled around laughing and squirming and doing everything EXCEPT crawling for half an hour. I do love coming…

Weekend Warriors

Weekend Warriors

Sunday was a crazy day in our family.  We got up early, not because we had to but because Bean doesn’t know that on Saturday mornings, Mommy and Daddy like to sleep until noon.  We’re working on that.  But it looks like it might be a while before that memo makes it to Bean’s desk. So, we were up early and we packed up in the car and headed to New York for the day to visit friends.  I love going to New York.  Its one of my favorite places. …

On the Run

On the Run

This weekend was pretty active for us.  On Saturday we had to run errands, so we were out of the house almost all day.  And then today we were in New York with friends.  I was a little worried about Bean.  I mean, he’s great with little bouts of excitement, but an entire weekend of going, going, gone?  It was questionable. But apparently, I worried for no reason.  Bean was awesome.  He was laid back.  He rolled with the punches.  He chilled, man. He was our little buddy.  Wherever we…
