“Gracie,” said Chris. “I think it’s time we cut your nails.”
“Say whaaaaa?”
“Now, don’t freak out. It’s not that big of a deal. Just give me your hand and sit really still.”
“Oh, that sounds easy,” Gracie said. “Here, let me help you…”
“No, Gracie. Just let me do it. I can’t see over your head,” said Chris.
“No, Dad! I wanna do it!”
“Gracie, look at me.”
“Whaaaat Daaaad?” Gracie whined.
“Please let me do this. It will be over in two seconds, I promise.”
“Well…I dunno…”
“Here, I’ll do the first one and you’ll see how easy it is.”
(snip, snip)
“OWWW!!!” cried Gracie.
“OWWW!!!” cried Chris. “Don’t bite me!”
“You started it!” whined Gracie. “I’m telling Mom!”
“Go ahead and tell her,” laughed Chris.
“Mom! Dad’s attacking my fingers!”
“I’m sorry, Puffalump,” I said. “But I can’t help you. Your finger nails are like claws. It’s time to cut them.”
“Et tu, Mom?”

I love that you call her Puffalump :o) It’s amazing how strong babies can suddenly be when you are trying to hold their fingers very still!

I love it when you do this and I’m very impressed that you can cut nails when your kids are awake. I used to have to wait for a deep sleep!

AH! I just love these conversations!!!! And, I kinda love that she tried to bite him.=)

That is cute. I have to cut my daughters pretty much every five days. They grow so fast and are so sharp. I have to lay her on the ground though, more control that way. She is a strong little girl.

Haha, Mindee reminded me of when I was younger. I’m a fair-skinned redhead myself, so my mom always made sure I wore sunscreen before I played outside for an extended period of time. For some unknown reason, I hated sunscreen. So, my mom would sneak it on me when I was asleep. Good call, Mom!

I definitely got bit yesterday when I tried to do this for my little man. To be fair, I didn’t like having my nails cut when I was little either!

She is such a cutie! Oh my goodness. She’ll never believe that in about 4 more years she’ll LOVE having Mom paint her toes! 🙂

Brave husband. The first time I tried to cut my daughter’s finger nails, I snipped off the tip of her thumb. We cried together and my husband had to take over. I’ve simply refused since then.

BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Chris gets the good husband award today! My man would not go anywhere this task.

OMG, I love her chubby legs. Love!

haha! Love this! Mike will not cut Ellen’s nails; he is way too scared! I can only cut them while she is eating. She is way too distracted that way 😉

Our little guy is 5 months and my hubby has trimmed his finger nails exactly once. He cut the tip of Jax’s finger about four fingers in and has refused since.
I bit his nails for a while, but that doesn’t seem to get them short enough now. sigh..

It takes a world of patience to cut Sullivan’s nails right now. Mike prefers to just grab a hand and chew them off like he does his own. Awesome, right?
Rebecca
Not sure how you feel about tv watching but we used to and still do sit our daughth front of the tv and she is so mesmerized by what is on the screen it was easy to cut her nails! Good luck!

We sing to Peanut while cutting her nails bc it distracts her. Or do it when she’s almost or completely asleep. Once, when she was a newborn I cut a tiny piece of her finger while she was sleeping. She woke up wailing – poor little nugget. Oh and I’m super impressed that Chris cuts her nails- Jon won’t go within 5 feet bc he says her nails are too tiny for his clumsy big hands. Excuses much?
