The Mascot Games
This past Saturday, we took the kids downtown to see the Mascot Games. I had no idea what this was. Chris got tickets through work, and we figured, “Why not?” Turns out, it was a lot of fun! They had all these sports teams mascots there from all over Florida, but also from all over the country, even as far away as Toronto.
(This is the bear from our Orlando hockey team, the Solar Bears. My kids LOVE Solar Bears games, and seeing “Shades” was the highlight of their day!)
The audience was split up into teams by colors and sections, and each audience team was assigned a team of mascots to represent them. The mascots competed in silly obstacle course games and earned points for their sections of the audience. It was really fun to cheer on our Red Team! The kids had a blast!
I was a little nervous about Gracie. Her greatest fear in the world are giant mascot-like characters. (Why I didn’t think of this until we were on our way to the stadium is beyond me… Parents of the Year, 2016.) She was a little hesitant at first.
But when she realized that the mascots stayed on the field and wouldn’t come up in the audience, she had a much better time! Silly Gracie.
It was a really fun way to spend an afternoon!
Moral of the story: Always go if you get free tickets because it might be a chance to see mascots run around and bump into each other.

Oh my goodness! Speaking of Lil’ Red… He fell down during the games! He tripped over a cable or something and fell, and because he’s so big and puffy, he couldn’t get back up!!! He laid there trying for a minute, and finally someone noticed and came over to help him! I almost peed my pants from laughing!

Gracie sitting there with her hands folded is the cutest thing!
